The beginning of this book was the FMC being dumped by her ex because he wasn’t satisfied with their sex life. Camera Shy by Kay Cove begins on the FMC Avery’s 30th birthday, her golden year, according to the waitress at the fancy restaurant her long-term boyfriend Mason took them out to to celebrate. I can say that I have a high tolerance for OW and OM, but when that line is crossed you know is that bad. They have a perfectly content life, own and run a business together, and have been dating for over 4 years.

Again, you have created a story that I can completely immerse myself in and have to grieve when it’s over. The second I found out about this upcoming release from Kay, I knew I was going to love it and my god. It was so spicy and yet still so deep, and plot focused, I'm amazed at everything she packed into this book! I am so in love with his character and thoroughly depressed that I have yet to meet a man even remotely similar to him.

She traces my length through my jeans with her hand before she unzips me and teases me through my briefs. FMC And MMC attended a birthday party for Cass together, and the FMC finds out from Cass about the birthday tradition. Avery has her own life and business issues that are brought up throughout the plot, and Finn has some of his own crazy ex drama that he deals with because she was an emotional abuser, but they both learn what a relationship with good communication, true trust, and real love, actually is. She is scuba certified and is an expert at time zone conversion, which she is aware is a very useless skill, but one she’s proud of nonetheless. There are so many ups and downs that Avery and Finn go through but I think what made this the best was that obviously, Finn adores and worships her curves.Feeling like her lack of sex appeal and prowess may have been the catalyst for the downfall of the relationship (just another toxic lie from Mason), Avery comes up with a potential solution. This all leads into my other issue, the bloated overuse of the women against women in Avery’s overall body confidence journey.

This reads like self insertion, like it’s everything the author wants for herself which is a massive yikes. She was strong when she was working but weak in her confidence and body image - to the point where everyone around her commented on her weight… it was repetitive to say the least. He is this super sexy man dealing with his own insecurities and past relationship trauma but he champions women every day for his job. And I think because I connected so much with it, and with the struggle with body image of FMC, I had higher expectations or truly different expectations of how I thought the story would go, which knocked me off kilter.Finn may give Avery the courage she needs to take steps towards loving herself and be there for her when there are inevitable bumps in the road, but this is not a story of the MMC “saving” the FMC. Avery and Finn have instant attraction to each other but are initially just friends, until Avery asks him to be her sex coach in exchange for helping him with branding for his business. It’s pretty validating to read a character have similar struggle to yourself so I really appreciated her internal dialogue about her struggles and how Finn was able to be her safe person to talk about those insecurities too.
