The story is anthologized in the collection FaceOff, which pairs signature protagonists from two authors in co-written stories. A young lieutenant colonel in a stylish handmade uniform roars through the damp woods of Georgia in her new silver Porsche, until she meets a very tall soldier with a broken-down car.

Reacher is tasked with finding out the person responsible for taking a long-distance shot at the French President, one of the suspects being a man Reacher tracked down once and put in jail sixteen years back for murder. This work is a crossover between the Jack Reacher and Temperance Brennan series, the latter with Kathy Reichs. He encounters various characters, both allies, including the new county District Attorney from the north, and foe, the police chief and the mayor, all on the payroll of the mastermind, a corrupt, philanthropic, "pillar of the community;" as he fights to prove his innocence. To be honest, this cannot be termed as the best Jack Reacher ever, but when all looked lost for us Reacher fans when Andrew Grant (aka Child) took over, this is kind of back on track of the vintage Reacher. When someone makes a small anonymous deposit into Reacher's bank account, it triggers his fixation for math and his investigative instincts.He reasons with her, but she shoots herself; thereby proving Reacher wrong when he concluded she was a bomber. Fenton can’t locate her brother and Dendoncker’s goons have come to take her to him for information. Lee is the recipient of many awards, most recently Author of the Year at the 2019 British Book Awards.
