I've used pebble beige, it's quite a peachy beige - fine if you like that kind of thing, but it's well to be prepared (I had to overdye, can't bear peach). Wearing rubber gloves, empty the dye carefully into the bowl and gradually add 250 ml / ½ pint of hot water. My favourite of the last batch is a cream jumper that I dyed with red and ended up a gorgeous muted raspberry red. I followed the instructions to the letter on the leaflet and made sure I have enough dye for the weight of the items.

However, after the dye wash and second rinse wash, the towels have come out dyed but with blue/red spots on parts of them, which are obviously very unsightly. So, in an attempt to renew some dingy but otherwise fine white bath towels, I purchased a box of pebble beige dylon machine dye and had a go with a bath towel, hand towel and flannel.Make sure you have a decent sized container, i use a large shallow plastic box that usually houses lego! Perfectly suited for smaller items like shorts, vests or socks, and for delicates you’d rather not put in the machine like wool and silk. It's all-in-one formula is safe for your washing machine and provides perfect, long-lasting and intense colour results. I could chuck in another box of dye and see if that helps, but I don't want to waste it if there is a fault and I can just reclaim my money back! I only do it with things I'm unlikely to wear again so there's nothing to lose and I just dye a couple of tones darker in case the stitching doesn't take.

Wool usually dyes lighter than cotton, so whatever colour you use will be more muted than it shows on the packet, which is the colour on white cotton.
