It was a joy to listen to and cant wait until the next book is released. Before William takes up his duties with the newly formed group, he and his wife Beth have embarked on a luxury cruise to New York. The cruise comes courtesy of Miles Faulkner, or to be more precise, his ex-wife. After escaping from prison Faulkner had staged his own death in a bid to shake the tail that William and his colleagues had placed on him. It was a ploy that’s doomed to failure. On a luxury liner en route to New York, the battle for power at the heart of a wealthy dynasty is about to turn to murder. Another story thread starts, where William realises that a master thief, and his nemesis Miles Faulkner, whom he presumed dead, has altered his name and appearance (now Captain Ralph Neville) and intends to marry someone close to Beth. Realising he’s been copped, Miles makes a run for it, and the team give chase. When that concludes, the team splits up the cold cases within the unit, and each member leads an investigation. Each case brings its own twisty and fast-paced drama, although some of the antics are as odd as a bottle of chips.William put the book he was reading on the table in front of him and took a closer look at the earnest young American who seemed desperate not to be thought of as a child, although he hadn't started shaving. The word 'preppy' immediately came to mind.

In the year 1951, Archer won a scholarship to Wellington School in Somerset. Archer left the school with O-levels in art, history, and English Literature. Before working as a physical education teacher, he spent a few years in various jobs. Over My Dead Body is fast paced and kept me spellbound from beginning to end. It's not often that I will listen to an audiobook in two days, but I had my earbuds in every chance I had. It's brilliantly written, with plots and subplots, twists, turns and drama. I frequently had my heart in my mouth, and at one point I called out a very loud and anguished, 'Nooo!' If you read Over My Dead Body, and I hope that you do, you will know exactly at which point I did this. The Clifton Chronicles is divided into seven novels that are Only Time Will Tell (2011), The Sins of the Father (2012), Best Kept Secret (2013), Be Careful What You Wish For (2014), Mightier Than the Sword (2015), Cometh the Hour (2016) and This Was a Man (2016). Harry Clifton remains determined to get Anatoly Babakov released from a gulag in Siberia, following the international success of his acclaimed book, Uncle Joe. But then something unexpected happens that none of them could have anticipated.

At the end of the audiobook is an excellent interview with Jeffrey Archer. Please don't skip this, it's priceless. I would not have laughed aloud if I didn't suspect the author wrote this part with sincere intentions. Which disturbs me greatly.

Lady Virginia is facing bankruptcy, and can see now way out of her financial problems, until she is introduced to the hapless Cyrus T Grant III from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who’s in England to see his horse run at Royal Ascot.

Enter one of the standout characters of the novel, young (and extremely affluent, want-to-be FBI agent) James Buchanan, the grandson of the ship's owner, Fraser Buchanan - who unexpectedly dies aboard. Maybe a timing issue for me, but this one didn't "ding as many dongs" as the other three books in the series for me.This was an interesting story and while the telling is a bit choppy as we jump from case to case, I think readers will enjoy this layered novel and its many different locales. Look for this book in stores October 19th in Canada!
