This book kept me reading as we followed Marcus Dillinger, a major league baseball player who is trying to form a community center for at-risk kids. He is also intrigued by Mary Katherine, but Mary Katherine is hiding a secret of her own - she is dying, and she doesn't want Marcus to fall for her.

It can be read as a stand alone although you may not understand a few things throughout the book. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and was sad to see it end. As with most of Karen's books I fell in love with the characters and found myself laughing and crying right along with them.Jep had been talking to scouts from the Reds ever since the season started. Every wonderful statistic from this season. Tyler was just what they were looking for. They even knew about his past. Still, Marcus is sure in the depths of his soul that something isn’t right. Ultimately his correspondence with Mary Catherine leads him on a desperate life-or-death mission to rescue her and get her to a US hospital before time runs out. Meanwhile, Sami and Tyler struggle with issues of their own. In a season when Tyler plans to ask Sami to marry him, the very core of their relationship is in jeopardy. But tonight was different. Tonight the Blue Wahoo fans loved Tyler Ames. They knew his name. He could hear them. What I could have done without was the endless letters to Kingbury's children at the beginning and the notes at the end. I think those are best left to the print book where one can read them or not. I got about 5 people in and finally realised that the whole prologue was nothing but that. So I skipped on to the first chapter. Shakir: Say: Had there been in the earth angels walking about as settlers, We would certainly have sent down to them from the heaven an angel as a messenger.How was Tyler surprised by his conversation with Sami at Pensacola Beach? He thought Sami valued him because he could play baseball. Explain how Sami really saw Tyler. How could this part of their story help you or someone you know in your story? I found these characters irritating as I believed the character of Sammy to be a bit naive and fantastic. I felt that the Angels mentioned in the title were a bit too elusive for the title including them. I felt they should be a bit more present than they were. The beautiful oceanfront stadium had opened two years ago, and already it topped the list of places to see, things to do on the Florida Panhandle. The fans had bought into the Blue Wahoos, the team more than any individual player. Finding coins, on your path or finding currency in general, is a common sign of guidance and support from the realms of spirit. If you find a coin on your path, or perhaps someone gives you a coin, pay attention! Does the date on the coin hold any meaning for you? Have you asked for financial help from your angels? What were you thinking about right before you noticed the coin? When you understand that coins are commonly used signs from your angels, and also from deceased loved one… You'll know to pay attention, and observe what is happening within and around you in the moment you find the coin on your path, so you can then understand the deeper meaning and significance which is often a symbol from Spirit illustrating you're loved, supported and guided.

Now, the angels in the title and who tie this whole series together are completely superfluous and occasionally annoying. The story would have flown much better without their presence and even the Christian elements would have been improved upon. As it is, all the "bad guys" are non-christian and all the people who help Tyler are devout, faithful and all that shit, except they wouldn't do anything unless the angels nudged them more or less subtly. Your guardian angels know you, and so they know which signs will capture your awareness, and what items contain personal meaning and significance for you. They can then use these things to help guide your next steps… What an exploding work of fiction! Angels Walking, the first book in a new series written by Karen Kingsbury, turns out to be an exceptional and inspirational debut. My curiosity is what drew me to the book; I wondered how the author would portray angels in a fictional yet Biblical way. When I began reading, I knew beyond a doubt that while a fictional piece of work promised an adventure, I was blessed at how Karen weaves in the spiritual reality of warfare that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Cheers interrupted his personal highlight reel. He opened his eyes and watched their centerfielder hit a triple. Blue Wahoos up, 3–0. He massaged his right arm. It was sore, but a whole lot better than usual. He had three more innings in him. Definitely.
