Most grommets are made from rubber, but plastic grommets are available in the UK and elsewhere, along with models made from other materials, including: TPV: This is a type of TPE and also called TPE-V. Its characteristics are more similar to EPDM, making it an excellent choice for sealing applications. It’s especially popular with the automotive industry for under-the-hood applications – for example, as a radiator rubber grommet – and where heat resistance and the ability to perform in oily environments is necessary. No need for oval cable to enter the box if a grommet is used. If the cable is installed when the conduit and box are installed, all should line up reasonably well and it's fairly likely you will be able to draw a replacement cable in (assuming there are not too many cables, and there are no dodgy joins in the conduit). Proper Cleaning: Depending on the material, some grommets may need periodic cleaning to maintain their protective qualities.
