As the first attempt at an open-faced helmet within the Star Wars universe, 75327 Luke Skywalker (Red Five) Helmet is a success. It looks pretty accurate, is full of authentic detailing and captures the unmistakable look of the X-wing pilot’s headgear very well. Designing it to resemble a helmet on a plinth rather than a hybrid between a full head and helmet like the Batman cowls was a smart move that’s paid off. When I first saw the helmet, and it being an open helmet, I was quite excited as I was hoping it would fit the Wooden LEGO Originals minifigure, but alas, it’s just a tad too large! It would’ve made such a brilliant accessory for it!The bright colours, and contrasty pops of red, yellow and white detail look great against the mostly white helmet, and like others in the collection, the helmet is perched on a sturdy stand. Unlike the Batman cowls, Luke’s helmet looks very smart, capturing the iconic details incredibly well. It’s not without its faults, though: the ridge at the top is perhaps a little small compared to its on-screen counterpart and, while a very valiant attempt, the trans-orange goggles don’t quite work. Looking ahead to next year, a further 29 sets are currently scheduled to retire. This includes the long-running UCS Millennium Falcon, the UCS Luke's Landspeeder, and the Mos Eisley Cantina Build your collection - This set is part of a series of collectible LEGO Star Wars build-to-display helmet models, each offering a fun and immersive creative experience If this set was priced slightly cheaper, it would feel like better value for money. Whether that will be an issue comes down to what you place more importance on when purchasing a set: if it’s the final model then this will prove to be a decent buy. If it’s the build, you might want to look at other, more involved helmets before this one. — Pictures —

Keepability [5]– With a vastly expanding collection, these are sure to be collector’s items and will maintain their value The open face nature of the helmet is brand new territory for LEGO, and they’ve done a decent job here with it, and it doesn’t feel as empty like the LEGO Batman cowls. If you’re a Jedi in training, then you’ll undoubtedly love having this replica Luke Skywalker (Red Five) Helmet in your home. It’s fun to build - minus the odd frustration - and the finished model is a joy to look at. Fans of the LEGO Star Wars Helmet collection are in for a treat in 2022, with three all-new helmets to add to their collection, and in the next few days, I’ll be reviewing them all on the blog!

The bright colours, and the fact that it’s a Rebel helmet also add to the uniqueness, and I was very impressed by how well the LEGO designers translated one of the most iconic helmets in Star Wars, and also made it so much fun to build.

It’s unmistakably Luke’s helmet, and any Star Wars fan should be proud to have this on display. Other Lego sets to consider As with all of the LEGO Star Wars Helmets, no minifigures are included with the set. This is not the section you are looking for. Move along, move along. — Price — If you’re a Star Wars fan, and looking for a great display piece that isn’t a ship, or large UCS model, I can highly recommend this set, especially if you have the other Helmets from the collection. I didn’t really like the chin strap, and the microphone/communicator, as they’re quite flimsy, and I found them constantly dislodging themselves while I was handling the helmet. I actually think the helmet looks better without them. Feel the power of your creative Force as you build the Star Wars collectible Luke Skywalker Red Five Helmet (75327), LEGO set for adults. This buildable model of Luke’s iconic pilot headgear is the first-ever hero helmet or open helmet in the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection.

Among these is the UCS Republic Gunship, and if previous UCS sets are anything to go by, this set could jump up in price when it hits the aftermarket. So if you're wanting to add the Gunship to your collection, now's the time to do so. Now that we have Rebel helmets, I can’t wait to see more of these – maybe we’ll get those aerodynamic Rebel Helmets soon! Over a third of the Star Wars sets currently available will be retiring this year, with a total of 27 leaving shelves. It might be hard to make out, but there is also grey padding on each side of the inside of the helmet, which was a really nice touch.

Details

Overall, it’s an enjoyable build but one that feels incredibly short, with the whole thing coming together with relative ease and in a relatively short amount of time. It doesn’t feel quite as involved as those that have come before and despite the decent final model, unlike Luke, this set’s build narrowly misses the target. — Characters — From the swamps of Dagobah™ to the halls of the infamous Death Star, our collection of LEGO® Star Wars™ dioramas puts adult fans right at the heart of iconic scenes from the saga. The details are spot-on, and despite some minor niggles like the fidgety chin strap, this is by far one of my favourite LEGO Star Wars helmets yet, as it looks great displayed on its own, or with the other helmets in the collection.
