As with its predecessor, the ME-50, what you get with the ME-70 is a stripped down offering of some of the essential Boss effects, in an easy to use, wallet-friendly package. I still continue to use it for practise and the odd recording and I have to say BOSS deserve a pat on the back for their continued reliability.

Also, the reverb effect is non-switchable (unless saved within presets) and the huge array of delays cannot be accessed when the looper is in use.There are a few drawbacks to this pedal, the most prominent for me being the slight muddiness to some of the effects and the lack of quality within the amp models. Any product name or trademarks used by the users to describe their patches are the sole property of their respective owners.

A subsection has settings that do a creditable job of making your single coils sound more like humbuckers and vice versa, and also contains an effect labeled Solo that is optimized for driving an amplifier preamp or a distortion pedal. They all sound familiar, not just because they're pretty convincing emulations of the real amps, but also because the signature COSM tone has been with us for nearly 15 years now. The idea here is to use the factory patches as starting points for a sound you like, and then save it as a user patch without losing the original. This way you can have two different delay times, that can be engaged one at a time or together, instantly available at the touch of a toe. Also, the Boss unit’s presets are all extremely usable—rather than designed with as much gain, delay and effect as possible, to impress pre-teen bedroom guitarists.With the ME-70 you can dial up a world of tone, from classic to cutting-edge, with simplicity and speed. I also love the fact that you can program multiple effects into one single pedal, so each pedal can trigger multiple effects at the same time. I'll be interested in hearing the opinions of some of our other Tone-Masters about how the sound stacks up, especially that Mesa/Boogie setting.
