This portable coffee maker from AICOK is marketed heavily as the best espresso machine for camping or travel… and we’re actually inclined to believe them. The designers at Linkind are clearly pour-over fans, and they wanted to create a device that would allow ordinary people to get the same delicious flavors of a well-crafted cup of pour-over, but without the science and technicalities. The machine works by automating the brewing process, rotating the water reservoir, and ensuring that the coffee grinds get an even, timely amount of saturation with the correct coffee-to-water ratio. They also clearly had the environment in mind when they conceptualized this device, as everything from the body to the mesh filter is made of eco-friendly materials and designed to be reused.

The machine’s automaticity allows you to rest on your work breaks without worrying about the hassle of having to remember what to turn off and when. It also gives you the freedom to walk away and attend to something else work-related while waiting for your coffee without having to watch it like a hawk. Brewing Capability – 3/5 Firstly, the water tank has a capacity of just 240ml (80z), producing around 150ml (5oz) of coffee at a time. While the Makita DCM501Z promises a hot cup of coffee, we noticed that finished brews were around 176 F° or 80 C°. While this is still quite impressive for a battery-operated coffee machine, it’s somewhat disappointing if you were expecting something piping hot. It gets even worse if you drink your coffee with milk, as this further lowers the temperature of an already somewhat tepid cup of coffee. It’s also worth pointing out that this coffee machine works with pods and ground coffee, so bring along your best grinder so that you can enjoy the freshest possible cup of Joe. You don’t need any paper filter or any other related disposable products to use with ground coffee, which you may forget on the way. However, because the battery doesn’t come with the machine, you’ll have to buy it separately if you don’t use other Makita products with the same battery. If you use one of the batteries on another tool, you can simply slide it into the coffee maker when that tool is not being used. Although the Senseo pods measure 62mm in diameter, they are compatible with the machine.When it comes to design, the good folks at AICOK wanted to machine that could make espresso on the go without sacrificing quality or taste. The result is a good-looking coffee machine that is slim, lightweight, and very portable. It’s almost exclusively aimed at people driving long distances or going camping, as the machine is designed to fit comfortably in car cup holders and recharge with both a wall outlet and 12-volt car charger (you’ll need to use the adapter to recharge it, however). There was also a deliberate decision to allow the machine to work with only Nespresso and L’OC capsules. Whether or not this was because of some partnership with Nespresso, or simply because it was convenient is tough to say. Due to being battery-operated, the machine does take a while to heat up the water. But then again, how long does it take you to get to the nearest coffee shop? If you want the convenience of coffee pods but you’re feeling particularly thrifty, then why not buy a reusable coffee pod and fill with ground coffee. Just buy a few pods and fill them up the night before and you’re ready to go. Using ground coffee

The exterior of this coffee maker is made of plastic. But before you start thinking – that’s not the most durable choice of material – I’ll stop you right there. Open the lid on top of the machine and take out the water tank. Pour in room temperature water. The water tank has a volume mark. If you’re using a coffee pod, fill it to the 120ml mark. If you’re using a ground coffee scoop (approximately 6.5g), aim for the 160ml line. If you intend to add milk to the coffee, less water will give you a stronger coffee. If you use an 18V LXT battery on a full charge, a brew cycle will take approximately five minutes. However, the brewing capacity (5oz per cup) differs depending on the battery you use.Another thing to consider is that you ensure enough charge left to complete your work (if you’re using the same battery for both the coffee maker and the tools you’re using). Because of this, you can rest assured that Makita’s cordless coffee maker offers every bit as much quality as its power tools.
