Description

Tomatoes, strawberries and bedding plants need a potassium-rich feed to encourage flowers, such as Tomarite. Although this is a water-on liquid feed for tomatoes, it’s also excellent for all container-grown bedding plants, agapanthus, dahlias etc.

I use branch trimming as necessary – when plants are crowding each other and more aeration is needed, or at the end of the season to bring fruit to maturity. The seaweed comes from a sustainable source in the Nordic region and is collected without damaging the environment. Chopped comfrey leaves can also be used as an accelerator on the compost heap and put into potato trenches, so planting Comfrey Bocking 14 by a compost heap is an excellent idea and the flowers are rich in nectar.You won’t need very much, in fact it’s best to add a glass of water from the soapy washing up bowl in your watering can than use it neat. Then, if there is no adverse reaction after a few days, you can begin to use Tomorite at the recommended dosage. When should foliar feeding start, once the first truss has set, like root feeding, or at any time you feel a plant could use a “pick-me-up”? It is enriched with Tomorite Plant Food with added seaweed for full flavoured tomatoes and is a deeper thicker planter for optimum root growth.

The main reason for using fertilizer on your plants, be it an indoor or outdoor plant, is to ensure that the plant receives the right balance of nutrients to grow and thrive.I’ve not yet started using Tomorite on them but will start on Zenith at the beginning of July as fruit are now starting to set on the 3rd truss. Good husbandry is really a matter of common sense, a little bit of logical thinking in relation to the choice of variety and it’s situation, its care coupled with preventative measures will go a long way in maintaining a healthy rose.

If you haven’t added a controlled-release fertiliser, you should start giving your tomatoes a liquid feed once the first truss of fruit has formed. With Tomorite, you can be sure that you’re providing your plants with the perfect balance of nutrients they need to flourish. Give the bag a good shake, this will help to evenly distribute the compost, and make sure any compacted lumps are broken down. The high potash ratio will boost the number of flowers and toughen up the foliage on roses and many other flowering plants.Our greenhouse is unheated and we did have some quite cold nights but warm days just after it was planted, about a week after Easter. Shirley and Alicante are their usual reliable selves but Ailsa Craig seems to have smaller and fewer tomatoes growing out this year.
