Cine-Nyms ( first played on Series 1, Episode 7 & last played on Series 2, Episode 50): The players are shown a quote from a film, but all its words have been replaced with synonyms of the actual words used. They need to work out the film for a point. Great Minds Link Alike ( first played on Series 7, Episode 12): Each pair is given the titles of three things, but one word is missing out of each title. The missing words all share a common link. One of the players buzzes in with the thing that links the missing words and their partner lists the missing words. Richard Osman's Blank of Blanks ( first played on Series 7, Episode 20): Each player of one pair blanks out a word in a question for the other pair. An incorrect answer unblanks the question for a steal opportunity. Only Fools And Zebras ( first played on Series 6, Episode 17): Players are shown a category. A question is asked, which will have an answer from that category as part of the answer. A picture is also shown, containing a picture from the category. The player must answer the question, but substituting the picture in place of the part of the question from the category.

Plenty have come close and then fallen at the final post, but comedian Angela Barnes completed her streak by coming first in every game of her first House of Games appearance. She very nearly managed it again when she returned for the Champions special alongside Ade Edmondson, his daughter Beattie, and Kemah Bob, but wobbled on Wednesday of that week, when Beattie Edmondson took the win in a pretty exciting tie-break with her dad. One-Richard-Osssssssman-Buzzer etc.), but you do get a lot of question cards and there is a lot of variety in the rounds – some of the references are more for families of a certain age, but you could say that about any quiz-based game. It also has the potential for a lot of silly fun and plays like three or four Big Potato Games in one (though it doesn’t quite match the production standards). You Complete Me – this has to be played as teams of two. A question is asked with a two-word answer. Whichever team buzzes the Richard Osman buzzer first gets a chance to answer, but the pair have to give one word of the answer each without conferring. Could be awkward… The series follows the exact same format as the main show, but with the addition of rounds not seen in the original. There are no double points in the final episode. This game is based on the hit BBC2 show hosted by Richard Osman since 2017. Richard Osman’s House of Games’ is fun enough but my biggest concern is the repeat play value, which I think is quite low. There aren’t that many different cards for the various rounds so once you play the game a few times, you’ll know all the answers. Now I know you’re probably thinking, nonsense that’s not the case for ‘Trivial Pursuit’ etc but the different here is the rounds are so specific that they are much more memorable than standard general knowledge. There are seven rounds in total, each one question and word based… but are a little different from just a straightforward ‘that’s the answer, mate’:The Nice Round ( first played on Series 2, Episode 3): A category is given and each player gets given an individual question. The other three players are given the answer on a card, and have to write down a word on their tablet, which they think would give the answer to what is on the card, without mentioning any word on the card or closely related thereto. The player trying to guess the answer can then nominate players to get a point for giving a good clue. However, instead of the junk items being shown on the screen, ten members of the audience physically hold up the junk items for the contestants to see (during the 15-second memorisation period and when the items are given as correct answers). You Spell Terrible ( first played on Series 3, Episode 2): The pairs are given a question which one player must buzz in to say the correct answer, and the other player must spell it out correctly to get a point. Answer Smash – in this round, you are given two definitions to two words that you have to buzz in and smash together – for instance, Anacondoleezza Rice for constricting snake and former secretary of state (yes, I am that much fun). You Complete Me (Team Game)– Pretty entertaining, basically, you and your teammate need to guess the full word to win points, however, you can’t confer with your partner on the words.Size Matters ( first played on Series 2, Episode 2 & last played on Series 4, Episode 58): The players are given a category and have to write down a correct answer relating to the category. The player who gives the correct response with the most letters in the answer wins a point, and they get a bonus point if the correct answer is the longest possible answer.
