Sure, it does the high gain thing incredibly well and that’s one of the reasons it’s so popular. And one of the reasons I bought one.The best option depends on what you’re looking for. If you just want to plug in and get to playing, odds are you’ll be frustrated with a pedal that requires a lot of tweaking to get a good tone. Likewise, if you prefer having as much control as possible over your tone you’re going to want a pedal that will facilitate that. Most Op amp based distortion pedals are meant for plug-and-play use. But there are some with more tone shaping controls. Note that many guitar amps, including Headphone Amps, come with basic distortion effect. Some distortion units and compressors come with THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) control for more precise distortion. Don't be fooled by the compact size of the Rowin LEF-324 Plexion pedal as it is more than tough enough to deal with some serious stage stomping when attached to any pedalboard so you can feel confident during any live performance. If we're talking about great distortion pedals, the DS-1 is not to be ignored. The DS-1 Distortion pedal has made its way into my setup more than once or twice in my playing career. Caline Orange Burst FTW, none of the others came close, noodling on La Grange, the pedal sounded great whatever the settings, no-brainer, it had dimension and clarity the others didn't. My perfect pedal. Although a classic distortion pedal, it's not for those who want more control over their tone. It may not please those who want a more modern and defined distortion flavor.

Classic Plexion Distortion】It is a modelling pedal which mirrors the original Plexi amps.Three knobs control the Gain,Tone and Volume.Toggle switch toggle between Bright and Normal sounds. This is due to the active EQ section with Bass, Mid and High controls that have their frequency ranges well tuned to many styles of music. That means there aren't a lot of "wrong" combinations when you're tweaking. You'll be choosing between great sounding options with varying textures rather than trying to find a sound that's usable. The RAT 2 is a true bypass pedal. True bypass pedals let your signal pass through the unit unaltered when the pedal isn't engaged, as is preferred by many tone purists. This can be especially important if you plan on using multiple pedals. In terms of global controls on this pedal, we have a three band EQ to control the bass, treble, and mids. There’s also a mid frequency selector switch and an overall output control.

Then there is the other factor – resale value. A distortion pedal from a well-known pedal brand is going to retain its value better than a pedal brand nobody has heard of before. Joyo also seems to offer rebranding services, but not as much as Mooer. Ammoon and Harley Benton are rebranded Joyo pedals.

This helps to strengthen the signal, and actually does more to preserve your signal than true bypass pedals.
