Speakers: For speakers, Donner has included 2 x 20 watt downward facing speakers for 40 watts total, and these sound REALLY good. And, the P-45 has been a very popular entry level choice for years now, especially for people who are mostly just wanting a fully weighted, graded hammer action piano with a good piano sample.

The Rec’n’Share and MusicSoft Manager apps, meanwhile, enable you to share your music, exchange data and communicate. For those seeking a firmer action - more akin to an acoustic piano - the 'portable' P-45 pulls off the trick perfectly. Where the Casio scores large, however, is in it's slightly diminished form, looking for all the world like a simple MIDI controller but packing the sound engine and speakers you need inside a frame that's genuinely luggable from room to room (and house to house) rather than merely dispatching with legs and a stool. I was nervous about the faux wood but it looks great and has a really high quality look, but also the minimalist design I was looking for.

Donner gave us the opportunity to try its new DDP-80 piano for ourselves, and as you’ll continue to read below, it certainly exceeded all of our expectations. I recommend this to anyone who is interested in a digital piano that sounds and feels like a real piano. And as far as the action goes, they are both dual sensor actions and realistic, but the Donner will be a heavier action – which one you prefer depends on whether you prefer a heavier or a lighter action.I'd be wary of some of the accounts on reddit that post how much they love the piano, how great it is, etc. headphone port, 1/4″ (summed mono) line out port, USB to host port, generic 1/4″ sustain pedal input, proprietary triple pedal input ( portable triple pedal unit is included! Some people aren't all that interested in having access to an infinite amount of sounds and features,instead opting for a handful of top-quality voices, comfortable action and a few useful learning aids built-in. While perfect posture would require the mounting of the P-45 on its optional stand it is table top friendly and - thanks in part to its bulk - can be played fairly comfortably when placed on the ground/rug/lawn etc. Compared to a portable digital piano, the DDP-80 is very likely to be placed in a stationary position.

Whilst this is a piano clearly built for the beginner who has an interest in decor, I do think there will be interest here for amateur music producers. Sure, you can often pick from a couple of colour options, but finding a piano that deviates from the design norm is surprisingly difficult. Great for quality but once you've screwed the legs in you're not going to want to move it about a lot. it has a line out port for connecting to external amplification – with the P-45 you have to use the headphone port which would disable the internal speakers, and the DDP-80 has 128 polyphony vs the P-45’s 64. The keys’ dynamic range also comes across as a bit lacking, as we found that there were not many velocity points between the DDP’s softest and loudest qualities — at least in terms of its standard voice.Because the DDP-80 keyboard is made out of wood (at least the outermost layer), its new owner will have to really make sure to handle and rest the keyboard gently, so as not to immediately scratch up its design. They also come with a Super Articulation Lite feature, with compatible voices promising to simulate the tone, resonance, and material characteristics of the instruments they’re emulating. Although it doesn’t have an electronic interface or multiple sounds, the Donner DDP-80 allows you to plug in an iPad, or a computer. For people looking to downsize from a grand piano, this model is only 50 inches long by 14 inches wide, so it fits in almost any room. Unfortunately, this keyboard piano only has one voice, the grand piano, so if you wanted an option to play more than one sound, this isn’t the best option for you.
