Although the title did not tie into Lady Penelope per se, it referenced the first part of a two-part story which was made up of Fireball XL5 and Lady Penelope respectively. Yes! There’s a behind-the-scenes documentary where you’ll see me say ‘can we do that again?’, and we’re having a fight between the two brothers, which is a lot of fun, but is also pretty scary at the same time.

The season has a story arc. Within that there are standalone episodes, but ultimately there’s a pretty incredible story arc – Clearly the Thunderbirds ‘franchise’ continues to be in the very best of hands at Vivid. The company’s long and faithful association with the series was highlighted by the presence of their original Tracy Island toy at the show. The new Tracy Island is bigger, bolder and bristles with lights, sound effects and mechanical features. Havoc - Thief, code-breaker and master of deception, with an assignment to cause as much chaos as possible! The Daleks comic strip, featured in TV21 from 1965 to 1967, usually featured a "Stop Press" panel which tied into other series in the magazine. They were included in full reprint collections of The Daleks but are functionally similar to the cover stories in that there is little direct intersection between the series featured. Although this story did not tie into the Lady Penelope strip featured in the issue, the titular superjet was a Fireflash, instead featured in the Stingray story.The launch appears to be geared to give the new series maximum exposure over the Easter weekend, and will be a very good indicator of general public interest in the series for the weeks ahead.

For many years we believed that Thunderbirds was named after ‘Thunderbird Field’ in Arizona – a base where Gerry Anderson’s brother trained during the Second World War.

In the expert’s opinion at that time, they should make the Dinky Thunderbird 2 blue, because children didn’t buy green toys – or at least they weren’t sufficiently attracted to them when on the shelves. So the psychologist suggested an eye-catching metallic blue. Totally inaccurate of course, and they did later release a green version.
