Does anyone know where I can find a paper template for marking the hole locations for a Blum concealed hinge? I need one for an inset hinge, 35mm style. Once adjusted suitably to allow the door to open and close without touching or binding on any surrounding surfaces you’re pretty much done, good job! How to fit Concealed Cabinet Hinges

Mounting plate: The mounting plate is fixed to the cabinet framework or carcass. The hinge then slides on or clips on the mounting plate holding the door in place Use the tables below to work out how many hinges you will need to install to the cabinet door you are fitting to ensure it opens and closes correctly and more importantly doesn’t sag. The holes in the cabinet are usually 5mm diameter but this is only good for the little fat grub screws that IKEA use. If you’re using your own regular wood screws then you’ll probably need a smaller pilot hole, 2 or 3mm usually. The next task is to measure and mark the positions using a pencil of each mounting plate on the inside of the cupboard or unit you are fixing your door to. You’re more than welcome, glad it helped. Re the ‘saving you a trip to IKEA’; now there are some who would say that was doing you a disservice…. 😉

If your using a hand held drill then I'd make a jig, drill a hole in a scrap of MDF and put a stop on it so that you can just hold the jig to the door and drill through the existing hole. p.s. I did a little surfing and was able to jog my memory as to the most critical dimension. The center of the 35mm cup hole should be 23mm from the edge of the door. I tried a sample and this seemed to be correct. Door is hung and swinging!Thanks.Seth To use a drill press for setting up and drilling concealed hinge cup holes you’ll need to follow the same steps as for a hinge jig:Repeat the same for the bottom and also for any other hinges, again remembering to measure from the correct point. If you need to use more hinges divide the space between the top and bottom marks equally depending on how many hinges you are adding e.g. if you are using 5 hinges, divide the space by 3 for your further 3 hinges. Another important point to be aware of when hanging cupboard doors using concealed hinges is; how many hinges should you use? The answer to this is that it depends on the size and weight of the door itself. So why not invest in the best hinge jig from Kreg AND their class leading drawer slide jig and cabinet hardware jig? Sorry I don’t have any insight, but do let me know if you learn anything and I can add it to the post 🙂 Firstly, measure and mark the same distance down from the top of the inside of your cabinet that you previously marked on the door for the top hinge, normally this is around 85-100mm. Hi – I have a SEKTION SE base cabinet 12x24x30″, a VEDDINGE 12×30″ door, and UTRUSTA hinge 125 2pk with UTRUSTA N pl out interior fit 12″ metal pull out shelves (which I learned today are discontinued). I needed to replace the door because of exterior damage, and foolishly tossed it to the curb before I measured where to drill the holes on the new door for the hinges. IKEA wasn’t able to give me a drilling template for the door. Can you help? Darn Roman! That’s the one thing I didn’t think to measure. I was more thinking folks would be fitting the hinges to their own cabinets! Right, I will measure this next time I go to IKEA and update the article. Not in the next few days though unfortunately for you. The hinge position is adjustable though as there are rows of fixing holes as you know. If you have the cabinets you can just measure down from the outside top I guess. If you are simply replacing one concealed hinge with a new one then it’s always best to swap like-for-like.I’m going to test a board, but I think the female portion of the hinge needs to go in deeper than the 20mm for corner cabinets. Your 20mm and 50mm measurements saved the day for our project, but now we’re installing the door on the corner cabinet. Using the Utrusta 153 degrees instead of the 110 and it’s not lining up in terms of depth The mounting plate itself should be positioned so that the vertical line is dead centre to the fixing holes while the horizontal line should be dead centre to the mounting plate itself. p.p.p.s! I found this today too… thingiverse.com which shows the hole positions for the Blum hinges too… Better quality hinges are generally stronger and hold their shape much longer than their cheaper counterparts.
