It's an endlessly fascinating mystery. In Smith's book JFK: The Second Plot the reader is given a comprehensive and concise overview of the assassination and its subsequent non-investigations. It presents an analysis of some of the more pertinent aspects of the case - including some of the photographic evidence as well as the controversial acoustics study. Dishonest autopsy photographs were created; skull x-rays were altered; the contents of the autopsy report changed over time as different versions were produced; and the brain photographs in the National Archives cannot be photographs of President Kennedy’s brain—they are fraudulent, substitute images of someone else’s brain.’–Douglas Horne, Inside the Assassination Records Review Board, 2009. In JFK: The Second Plot, published in 1992, Smith argues that Lee Harvey Oswald was a CIA agent. Smith quotes James Wilcott, a former CIA man, who claimed that Oswald had been "recruited from the military for the express purpose of becoming a double agent assignment to the USSR." The Soviets were suspicious of Oswald and he was allowed so little freedom it was decided by the CIA to bring him home.

On December 12, 1962, while Roscoe White was waiting to get his hardship discharge from the Marine Corps, he applied to the Dallas Police Department, a job he was eventually to get just a few weeks before the assassination. And in the interim, Roscoe worked for the American National Insurance Company. And, if we are to believe it, a coworker from that employment said that JD Tippit pulled him over in Oak Cliff, minutes before he was shot! What a small world!
