On the surface, it's a dystopian, cyberpunk sci-fi about a man named Kyrii searching for the net terminal gene through the endless maze of 'the city' but underneath this, we have a very complicated, often incomprehensible story with magnificent art and a lot of gory horror.

Slightly more inspired battle scene. However, I wouldn‘t mind some plot. Here is my problem with these characters: I don‘t like any of them. And I am still not sure, what their motivations are or where they are headed. Maybe I am not reading this fast enough and struggling to remember. Or they are just not that memorable. Each of these volumes deserves a 5 star rating. If I was pressed, I'd say the 5th volume was the weakest, but the differences are marginal. They invented incredible things, it was a Cyberpunk manga but they couldn't invent railings for some reason. There were these mega structures of an endless city which was made out of parts called stratas and there wasn't one single railing at the side of the stairs or bridges in anywhere... HA HA ! i would definetly fall... HA HA ! Kirin is being hunted, as well, in his quest by several factions. Some humans will help him, some won’t. He’ll try and help many of them. The first part of the first volume follow the journey of Kirin. He’s been sent to the city to find a viable « net gene » among the human population, He is seemingly one of the only persons owning a very powerful graviton gun, and is apparently human, but able to withstand substantial falls and abuse.

You will notice that as you read, there is very little in the way of dialogue and I believe this serves to further place the reader into Susano's shoes- effectively portraying her feeling of loss and confusion as she wonders aimlessly through the desolate city streets. Since less dialogue serves to invite more subjective judgments on the part of the reader, rather then simply only following what the character says and taking that as how you should feel if you were to be in that position. Blame! is set in what is simply known as "The City", a gigantic megastructure now occupying much of what used to be the Solar System. Its exact size is unknown, but Tsutomu Nihei suggested its diameter to be at least that of Jupiter's orbit, or about 1.6 billion kilometers. In the manga, this is also suggested by Killy crossing an empty, spherical room roughly the size of Jupiter, suggesting that the planet had been there but was disassembled as the City grew.
