Since the Worx WG184 40V trimmer/edger uses two 20V Max lithium-ion batteries, it stays compatible with all Worx 20V tools. The cordless trimmer also features a Command Feed line advance along with variable speed control. Command Feed electronically feeds 1/4 in. of line at the touch of a button. It eliminates the bump-feed mechanism entirely. You also remove the delay as you can keep cutting as you feed the tool more .080-inch line.

A lot to love about the WG184. Worx has a funny way of making products that are super intuitive to use that somehow other brands aren’t doing. Line feed and blade replacements. It’s useful if a blade strimmer comes with spare blades, so you don’t run out if one breaks in the middle of a job. You should be able to get a new spool of line for a line strimmer or replace the whole head. With both types it's helpful if the spare blades or line can be stored on the tool.Indicator lights on the charger flash green while charging is in progress, rest on green when the batteries reach 100 percent, or flash red to indicate that one or both batteries are defective. And when I mentioned this model on a Zoom call with my six adult siblings, we all agreed that the interchangeable Power Share batteries were just the kind of practical touch a frugal family like ours can really appreciate.

Boring, I know, but the Worx WG184 comes in at about 13 inches. This is right at the bottom of the range for commercial landscapers. While this likely wouldn’t be used in a commercial setting, it’s darn near close. The battery takes a couple of hours to charge and provides around 25 to 30 minutes of active service, although you could stretch that out a little further by avoiding Turbo mode. However, indicators on the membrane button control panel give you some idea when you’re running low. It’s a little heavier and harder on the shoulders than some models, but it’s also more solidly built than most trimmers at this price. All in all, it’s a good choice for mid-sized gardens and, with the battery and charger included, excellent value.
