Boss of Sony: you are right that the battery life of a DSLR is betterr then the battery life of an mirrorless camera. But this comment is not about the differences between mirrorless and DSLR, this is about the differences between two models. Comparing these two the battery life went from 1200 (D3400) to 1500 (D3500) what is a good amount, but it is the one of the two feature that changed between these cameras. The other is the weight and size. The D3500 is 80 grams lighter and 0x1x6mm smaller. A helpful Guide Mode is available to aid in becoming acquainted with the D3500 through a series of step-by-step tutorials. The battery life on the D3500 is amazing, though. It will effectively last for days at a time if you shoot through the optical viewfinder: longer than its predecessor or mirrorless cameras. You can’t charge over USB, which is disappointing, but during our time with the camera we didn’t even notice a percentage drop on the battery. In viewfinder shooting, the 11 AF points are clustered towards the middle of the frame, but if your subject is near the edge it’s easy enough to focus and then reframe before shooting. You can let the camera choose the focus point automatically or select it yourself; either way it’s very fast, and very positive. If you’re comparing the D3500 against mirrorless alternatives, its body is going to seem pretty fat and chunky by comparison. This does give you a good grip on the camera, though, and a redesigned button layout on the rear makes the D3500 easy to handle without accidentally pressing buttons you didn’t mean to.

One final area the D3500 elevates itself above its competition is its burst mode – 5fps is very respectable. It might not be enough to cover a professional sporting event, but for portraits and events it’s pretty good. The buffer is limited: in JPEG mode we found the burst mode was good for 15 images, followed by a fairly lengthy digestion process. In RAW mode we could only shoot eight frames continuously before the camera paused to process. For film, as with OVF, many people feel very attached to how these things look and how it makes them feel when they look at them. photoMEETING - Consumers are not interested in metaphysical debates over what is "reality." We all know that the very act of capturing an image digitally is an "interpretation of reality." The true factor that we are interested in is capturing an "interpretation of reality" that we find pleasing, desirable and adequate. This whole argument of "reality" is just psychobabbble nonsense spouted by people desperately trying to put OVFs on some metaphysical, philosophical pedestal. Get over yourselves! Redesigned body is more compact, lighter in weight, and has nearly all of the rear controls on the right-hand side of the grip for easier one-handed control. The Nikon EN-EL14a battery may be slim, but it's enough to power the D3500 for an amazing 1,550 shots.
