The St. George Spirits' portfolio includes gins, vodkas, whiskeys, liqueurs, and even absinthe. It is diverse but every bottle is of the highest quality and perfect examples of the small-batch revolution. While theirpotato-based vodka was a smash hit, spuds were not right for the expansion into gin. The team, led by William Chase, turned to another crop on the distillery's estate, the 200-year-old apple orchards. The botanicals includejuniper, coriander, angelica, licorice, orris, orange, lemon, hops, elderflower, and Bramley apple. It is bottled at a flavorful 48 percent alcohol by volume (ABV, 96 proof). In 2016, Williams Elegant 48 Gin became the new name for what was known as Williams Chase Elegant Gin. It is the same gin and the "48" refers to the 48 cider apple varieties in the estate's orchards as well as the 48 bubble plates in the column of the vodka still. SkinnyBrands marketing manager Lucy Chan Chappells added: “We’re really proud to be continuing to expand the Skinny Lager brand with the launch of the Skinny IPA. There has been an unprecedented rise in new-to-market IPAs, with the global market set to grow annually at 11.4% in over next four years. Skinny IPA is set to lead the way as a lower calorie alternative IPA.”

The result of all of this careful planning is a spectacular gin. Few words can describe the experience properly as it is unlike any other and it doesn't have a distinct characteristic or dominant flavor. The line-up includes Shane Williams, James Hook, Lee Byrne and Mike Phillips who have united to launch Perthyn Low Alcohol Spirit: The Spirit of Belonging. Pronounced ‘pear-thin’ and taking its name from the Welsh meaning of ‘belonging’, Perthyn is a low alcohol spirit (10% ABV) that uses locally and responsibly sourced botanicals and is distilled in the Cardiff Distillery, which offers a unique and ideal climate.

This creation of their own base spirits sets them apart from the vast majority of gin distilleries which buy in a neutral base spirit which they then rectify. All of their gins are created from spirit distilled using apples or potatoes grown on their farm – William believes this ‘field to bottle’ approach sets Chase apart from other distilleries. The description of their Dry Rye Gin (49.5 percent ABV, 99 proof) certainly whets the palate. This gin is distilled entirely from rye and that gives it a genever-like feel. It's rich and malty with some of those signature rye spices that make rye whiskey special. The Denver, Colorado distillery is home to a variety of craft spirits including gins, whiskeys, vodka, liqueurs, and aperitifs. They even have an amaro and absinthe. If you have a recipe that calls for a hard-to-find or old-school spirit, they may have it. This is a gin that everyone can enjoy. It has a softer juniper profile and subtle hints of bright citrus from pummelo and Valencia orange.Teamed up with local Cardiff Distillery, the ex-Lions players decided to launch their own gin brand after a conversation over a few drinks. Shane Williams said, “When we do stuff, we like to keep it Welsh for obvious reasons.” The first two gin bottles launched are No.11, a violet glass bottle representing former winger and number of Shane Williams. The second bottle is a turquoise blue bottle named ‘No.15’ after ex player’s number Lee Byrne. This bright gin features sweet blood oranges from Spain, lemon myrtle from Australia, and immortal flowers from France. They're brilliant companions for the juniper and definitely give the gin that summer feel. The boys are eager to see how well their first two alcoholic gin flavours go down before releasing their third and fourth bottles to the collection. The next two bottles are designed with a little less colour, the third, will be a clear glass bottle and the fourth will be a misted, frosted glass, both aimed to sit elegantly beside the first two released bottles.
