Ah yes, I love going on a journey with a broken main character who will find themselves over time. I have been waiting to read this for so long and it's off to an excellent start. The artwork is immaculate and has this stunning realism to it. Vagabond" tells the story of Shinmen Takezō, a wandering young man searching to become invincibile under the sun. He does this by seeking out the greatest swordsmen in the land with the goal of defeating them or dying by their hand. But, to bring things around full circle, it is also a long, arduous coming-of-age tale of a young, violent, severely maladjusted man trying to find self-worth and self-fulfillment through the way of the sword. I still remember the stories of the last few months that eventually led me here to Takehiko Inoue's Vagabond. It all started with the graphic novel adaptation of Miyamoto Musashi's The Book of Five Rings which brought into my awareness, the sword saint.
