I read the trade which just collects the main series, issues 1-6, but this time around, I read all the Silver Surfer comics and a lot of Warlock comics leading into this. If you intend to read the omnibus, I'd recommend reading the other serials when they occur in their proper time slots instead of all at the end like the omnibus was designed. I also liked reading more of Doctor Strange, a character that I have become increasingly interested in.

But even as the Mad Titan gathers the six Infinity Gems from across the galaxy, assembling them into the Infinity Gauntlet and gaining truly godlike powers, a host of heroes gather to oppose him – including the Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Doctor Strange and the Hulk! The mystical nature of the character meshed nicely with the space faring cosmic characters (something I did not actually expect. The team of Silver surfer and Drax were able to find Adam warlock, who was dead as a doornail and is resurrected to stop Thanos. But even as the Mad Titan gathers the six Infinity Gems from across the galaxy, assembling them into the Infinity Gauntlet and gaining truly godlike powers, a host of heroes gather to oppose him — including the Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Doctor Strange and the Hulk! This has the main story, the Thanos Quest (which is very good and imperative to how Thanos gets the gauntlet) and a ton of Silver Surfer to start.I would have liked to see more Spider-Man (especially considering that the solo Spidey story in this collection was, quite frankly, a little weird and a little dark--not bad, but. The reset button at the end is the main problem with the series, but pretty expected given what occurs. So many of the integral characters--namely the Silver Surfer and Adam Warlock--simply haven't been introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I finally got a copy of the infinity Gauntlet omnibus and was wondering of its worth investing in the trilogy (Infinity War/Crusade).

The last two are another big let down as the ending is wholly underwhelming and just the shittiest was they could have gone about it. In the mid-1970s, Starlin contributed a cache of stories to the independently published science-fiction anthology Star Reach. Even with Doctor Doom, Galactus and the universe’s cosmic powers aiding them, can Marvel’s mightiest possibly prevail against Thanos the all-powerful? I love the blending of cosmic and arcane powers and the interactions of a broad range of characters from the Marvel Universe.

The Doctor Strange and Hulk issues lie somewhere in between but have their high points, such as the final Doctor Strange issue, which is the perfect conclusion for the volume. I hadn’t read this comic since I was really young, and I wanted to brush up on all of the post-snap details so I can make my predictions for Avengers 4 next year.

The Infinity Gauntlet was interesting and was a page turner until I finished the Infinity Gauntlet subsection. As a product of its time, the main event is very strong, offering both a stellar cosmic storyline and a fun look at the Marvel heroes of the '90s and the universe's cosmic entities.This is a really good series that is packed full of Marvel’s best heroes and villains fighting one of the most recognizable of antagonists, the mad Titan Thanos. This Mega crossover tells the odyssey of Thanos, who travels across the universe to collect the Infinity gems AKA Soul gems AKA Infinity stones and combines them using a badass gauntlet to achieve omnipotence. Thanos Quest could have been an awesome tale of Thanos taking down some of the biggest challengers in the universe, but instead, Thanos quickly breezes through the owners of the six gems with no problem and makes his gauntlet. Definitely came away feeling like I have a much better understanding of Thanos and impressed with some of the best writing of the Silver Surfer I've seen.

Strange (Personally, unnecesseryI think he is the real hero of this series) goes perfectly along with the main event. I did really like most of the supplemental issues, even those that aren't necessary, but I should have to go back and establish the time-frame for each issue. The biggest trouble with some of these tie-ins is the lack of elapsed time between issues of the Gauntlet, which puts a few of them in weird null time zones. The Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus starts out reprinting the events previously assembled in Silver Surfer: Rebirth of Thanos, the limited Thanos Quest, and a few more Silver Surfer episodes to appropriately set the stage for the actual Infinity Gauntlet mini-series. The death was decided by fans, as DC Comics set up a hotline for readers to vote on as to whether or not Jason Todd should survive a potentially fatal situation.

It's nice to have (40) as an add-on to the story, but it's largely a setup for 41-43 arc that's not included. I also liked the snapshots I got of other Marvel characters; this allowed me to round-out my knowledge a bit while also pointing me in a direction for other possible comics to read. While I feel like the main series works if you read it alone, I recommend reading all of SS and the Warlock issues leading up to it. This is truly one of the best comic book events of Marvel, spanning two limited series and six titles which add up to 45 individual issues!
