The higher the retention, the more coffee you're going to waste, both when using the grinder for the first time each day and also in between adjusting grind settings while dialing in. I'll get into the review of the Eureka Mignon shortly, first of all, I'm going to give you a run-through of the different models – as there are a few, and it can get a bit confusing. So I thought I'd try to clear that up a bit first, and then tell you what I think of the Mignon from using it. Being short is a big plus for our kitchen, we don't have much space on the worktops under the cupboards, so I struggle with taller grinders. I've used the Eureka Atom 65 too, and that was a struggle to fit under the cupboards, which meant having to use the grinder quite a distance from the espresso machine. If I was choosing between this and the Baratza Encore/Virtuoso, I would probably sacrifice the slightly nicer UX on those models and opt for the better-built and way more consistent Filtro. The micrometric adjustment knob on the Eureka Mignon Silenzio allows you to easily and precisely adjust the grind settings to make sure the consistency is right for whatever you’re brewing. You can also easily switch between the timed or manual control options with just the press of a button, letting you get the perfect dose every time.This has changed recently with the release of the Eureka Filtro and a couple of more expensive brew-focused models. The grinder boasts a sound insulated body with rubber dampers used throughout the motor & parts that reduces the vibrations for a far quieter grinding experience.

You're going to get some grind retention with just about all grinders, and generally speaking the bigger the burrs, the bigger the retention – although that's not always the case, and there are modifications that can be done to the bigger commercial grinders to reduce retention. Second, there’s the material. These burrs are made from steel, which translates to longevity and durability. You won’t need to worry about them breaking if you drop them. It has no display, no timer, no dose control, etc., literally just a motor, a burr set, and a switch for continuous grinding. It's capable of great quality grinding, thanks to the high-quality large burr set. The espressi taste slightly better, so if you are on the way to become a coffee aficionado and want to differentiate every sublte taste, then this grinder might be a good, and really pretty option. The Eureka Silenzio uses a basic manual timer for dosing, an affordable choice. There is no display screen or programming option other than setting the timer.

Care and Maintenance

Quality Manufacturing — Well-established hand-assembled manufacturing focussing on service and the customer needs. Please note that the latest version of the Crono is slightly different, and is made with brew in mind, not espresso. The SG’s flat (such a simple thing) 3-way button with push to start, push to stop and keep pushing to keep grinding operation is such a convenient, not slippery and just great feature that I will deeply miss. Oh, and the SG grinds to the centre of the basket too, so you don’t need to move the PF to collpase the grinds at all.

I say “precise” grinding numbers, as on the other models there are just five numbers, they're all stepless, but you only have 5 numbers as a guide, while you have a lot more guides on the perfetto. When it comes to performance, the Eureka Mignon Silenzio Espresso Grinder can help make your morning run as smoothly as possible. The 50 mm flat hardened steel burrs and strong 1350 RPM motor allow the Silenzio to efficiently grind your dose. Eureka's ACE system helps prevent clumping by eliminating static in ground coffee, which in turn ensures dose consistency. Why You Should Get It So purging through a full dose makes sense with a grinder like that, but you wouldn't need to purge a whole basket full with the Mignon grinders, just a couple of grams should be fine. Just for Espresso? It is incredibly uniform and unimodal in its grind distribution, which is something that dedicated coffee geeks will be able to appreciate. Dialing in the grind refers to how you adjust the texture of your grinds in your grinder. With the Eureka Mignon Silenzio, you’ll use a stepless grind adjustment system.Howdy AZ, thanks for the report about your Specialita - sorry to hear it's not working out. I've had a Spec for seven months and so far have only used it for pour-over. I upgraded (or maybe side-graded?) from a steel-burred Vario. The Vario was great in the cup, probably better than the Spec, but I got tired of losing my settings after every cleaning. And the Spec is way quieter and faster. Which then goes on to name 1,2,or 3 examples of machinery, and surprisingly detailed high end features are at the top of the must have list ! By providing Authority to Leave you agree that the parcel is deemed to have been received when left at your premises. So, not long and some grounds start overshooting. As it doesn’t keep going when you remove the PF from the button while the basket fills, it’s a frustrating exercise in stop and go to finish.
