It’s a firepower-first nightmare for enemy patrols, and even includes some close combat punch thanks to Farsight himself.* Arks of Omen: Farsight Enclaves Dice Set I am speaking in jest of course as there is more to ittle than that and this is an excellent novel that had me invested from start to finish. It is a tale that has Castellan and his allies racing to stop a demonic invasion on a world before it happens and has all the trappings of a Slanesh invasion, even going into the dark mindset of those recently brought under its sway. This would be a major development in Warhammer 40k lore; after all, the Grey Knights are not created by the same method as ordinary rank-and-file Adeptus Astartes neophytes of any other chapter. Instead of coming from the genetic blueprint of one of the Primarchs, they’re imbued with specially engineered geneseed developed directly from the genome of the Emperor – making each marine vastly more powerful and valuable. Opening the door to Primaris Grey Knights would make for some seriously dangerous dudes. Convinced that,even if the Imperium survived Horus’ uprising,its future would be beset by endless threats from Chaos and its warp-spawned minions, the Emperor sent Malcador to search the Heresy’s many battlefields for the truest, most loyal and mentally strongAdeptus Astartes and humanimperial servants alike.

Depending on their skills, preferences, and the task at hand, space marines deploying in a Grey Knights Strike Squad might swap out their Storm Bolter for psychically-boosted heavy weapons like Psycannons, Psilencers, and Incinerators. Tide of Convergence– 6 inches extra range on Psi weapons; one extra Mortal Wound on rolls of 6 to wound with Nemesis weapons. The Blade of Antwyr is as potent an artefact as the Grey Knights have ever possessed. Some within the Chapter speculate that Antwyr is more than merely a Daemon Prince or Greater Daemon trapped by foul sorceries, and may even be the last surviving fragment of an ancient god. Sneak into the Arks of Omen and cause some big green havoc with Boss Snikrot and his boyz. Boarding Patrol: Orks is a musclebound collection of tough-as-nails fighters led by the legendary Kommando Boss sporting a brand new model. In addition to Snikrot, you’ll board with five Flash Gitz, 10 Beast Snagga Boyz, and 10 Kommandos – who also drag along a reluctant Kommando Grot and far-too-enthusiastic Bomb Squig for the ride.* Boarding Patrol: Aeldari Tide of Banishment– Daemon units within 6 inches of your units get -2 Leadership; you get +1 to hit and wound versus daemons.Some weapons have ‘Blast’ listed in their profile’s abilities. Now let’s have a look at some of the most iconic units in the Grey Knights – Terminators. Brotherhood Terminator Squads

The Grey Knights are classic sculpts granted, but are really showing their age, and it doesn’t help that 95% of the box is outdated like that. It’s the big heads that get me – it really is a screenshot from a bygone era. I’d love to see the Grey Knight range get the refresh they deserve so they can look eye to eye with the heretics and daemons they were engineered to hunt. The 9th edition Grey Knights codex was generally well received, as a natural refinement of the ‘reboot’ update the army received to its previous codex in the dying months of 8th edition. The 666th chapter’s most elite heavy infantry, Grey Knights Paladins are made up of the most senior, battle-hardened veterans in each Brotherhood. Their highly decorated Terminator plate bears heraldry, honours, and keepsakes of their great feats and glories – for each one of them has slain a greater daemon (or more).The blade Antwyr, I assume it is a relic of Khorne, loathes the Slaaneshi Daemon Prince that controls the outbreak on Sandava II, and tries to free itself to strike the rival daemon down. Alas, for now, Games Workshop has neither confirmed nor denied that the new Castellan Crowe is a Primaris Space Marine – much less given any indication that more Grey Knights could be converted. On the upside, it leaves the possibility open for Primaris Grey Knights to be developed later on (both in narrative and plastic miniature form). We shall wait and see.

Intensely psychological, character-driven story arcs of certain persons show them falling victim to their own ambitions – which are immediately and masterfully exploited by the ever-watchful dark gods. For no matter how pure and virtuous one may come across, true evil always can (and often does) find the easiest way to one’s heart... The actual portrayal of the daemonic incursion is different than, say, in Guy Haley’s Shadowsword but still rather vivid, as is the two feuding Chaos gods’ contest for a single human soul (an ideal example thereof being Commander Vendruhn). Descriptions of chaotic violations to the Sandavan cities are extravagant to the point of downright opulence, yet the human spirit’s path to damnation is rendered highly believably, with the seduction of Imperial citizens occurring deceptively slowly yet (almost always) inexorably. Purifiers recruit only from those amongst their battle-brothers whose souls are considered to be utterly incorruptible and resistant to the temptations of the Warp -- even by the incorruptible standards of the Grey Knights. So careful is the selection that there are seldom more than a few score Purifiers within the Chapter. With 3 Wounds, a 2+ Save, and a 5+ invulnerable save, Grey Knights Terminators absorb a lot of enemy fire before giving up the ghost. Their ability to fire a Heavy weapon on the move means they’ll be dishing out a lot of firepower at range.Looks like the new Castellan Crowe 40k miniature is indeed a Primaris size, so what does that mean for the rest of the Grey Knights?
