For photographers simply looking to enter a full frame system, the choice becomes even more complicated. Traditionally, mirrorless cameras appeal to users seeking a smaller, lighter option to DSLRs. The a7 II is not particularly small or light, though to be fair, it is smaller and lighter than any full-frame DSLR on the market. It's also not a particularly quiet camera, something street photographers should definitely take into consideration. Also, as a system, the FE mount family of lenses is ever-growing. But they are pricey, pricier than a lot of comparable glass for Canon and Nikon full-frame cameras. Image Quality Yes, you need to take into consideration the subject movement when shooting at a shutter speed that slow, but if your subject is still, I’m able to get a sharp image. In-body Image Stabilization: This gives you up to a 4 stop advantage when shooting in low light. I’ve shot sharp images at 1/15 of a second with this camera. A big question I have gotten a lot is whether there is any loss of image quality when using the adaptors. I bought the Voigtlander Close Focus Adapter and can tell you that there is nothing lost as far as IQ is concerned. If anything, the adapter offers a slight advantage. There is no glass in the adapter, and it has the ability to adjust the distance between mount and the sensor. This allows you to push the rear element away from the sensor enough to give you a shorter minimum focus distance when needed. Step-up to ISO 12,800 and 25,600, however, and the noise reduction applied to JPEGs starts to take its toll, with more noticeable loss of detail and smoothing at 100%. Simultaneously captured raw files offer the opportunity to fine-tune noise reduction to find an acceptable mid-ground, with some noise visible along with greater detail. For the most part, though, we recommend avoiding the top sensitivity setting if you want to make prints or view images at A4 size or larger.

Being one of only 2 full frame cameras on the market to offer image stabilization, the other being the Sony A99, this is huge. But, how good is it? LA-EA4 is DSLT like AF system that comes in an adapter - there are couple of motors in the adapter for AF and aperture control, there 15 selectable AF points much like older DSLTs like A65. There is AF microadjust just like A77ii. The down side relative to A77 ii is that the AF system of the adapter is much more basic. This adapter works with all lenses compatible wiht DSLTs like A77 or A99. It works in much teh same way Sony has also given the A7 II some of the video features of the A7S. For example, it can now record in XAVCS, AVCHD or MP4 formats. Picture Profiles offer the ability to set the gamma to Sony’s S-Log2 for reduced contrast and greater dynamic range, while the Time Code feature helps with scene identification and footage syncing from multiple cameras. While I have been extremely impressed by the overall image quality, two things that are crucial in a camera review that won’t be affected by the lens being used are dynamic range and ISO.The shutter button has also moved from the top of the camera body, to the top of the grip itself, and is now angled slightly downward. Its diameter has been increased slightly over that of the original a7. You wouldn't necessarily say this was one of the best Sony cameras today, given the technical advances that have happened since then, but it's ideal for anyone shopping around for the cheapest full frame cameras right now.

I have been shooting my Df for a couple years now at weddings, which only has one card slot. My other camera bodies that have dual slots, I don’t even write to both at the same time, I cascade them. HOWEVER, if you can afford the extra, we'd recommend the Nikon Z 6 or Panasonic Lumix S1 as better alternatives. The Canon EOS RP is also good but harder to recommend because apart from its vari-angle screen, there are few respects in which it's any better than the Sony A7 Mark II, and it doesn't have the Sony's in-body stabilization. The a7 II is heavy, yet comfortable to hold. The shutter button has been moved to a more accessible spot, but the command dials have been made significantly less accessible. Custom buttons are plentiful, though not always that easy to reach on the fly, the 'C1' and 'C2' buttons specifically are quite inaccessible. The A7 II shutter is quite loud, which may give the game away in street photography (Image credit: Future) On the still images side, the Sony Alpha A7 II supports uncompressed 14-Bit raw image capture.
