No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. Brilliant book, if you (like myself) have read the previous books to this collection, you will enjoy it as much as I have. The reader is introduced to a bizarre group of oddballs – some genuinely heroic, some venal, some quite boring – who become entangled in these schemes.

To achieve this, the air was thick with deceptive radio traffic for the Germans to listen in to, obliquely yet insistently suggesting the coup to come. Every signpost, every sign on a truck, every distinguishing mark of any sort, meant far more to me than to anybody else.
