Aside from the hefty price, our only other (slight) criticism of the Dyson Hot+Cool Formaldehyde is that if you want it to automatically switch on when the unit detects changes in the air, you'll have to remember to put in Auto mode. on third-party testing of removal rate of fine particles according to GB/T18801-2015 standard and pollen removal rate according to AHAM AC/1-2019 standard. According to AHAM, air changes per hour (ACH) is the measure of the outside air volume added to a space divided by the volume of that space over a set amount of time.

In our tests, we found that the air purifiers removed the lingering smells of candles, incense and dry shampoo. It's compact and very light at just 1.5kg so it's easy to carry the thing around. Putting it in the kids' rooms seems like an obvious use for the Blue Pure 411 but I do worry it might not survive the encounter in the long term, unless your children are particularly well behaved, or you put it out of their reach. The Milky Plant is an all-in-one blender and strainer with one job – to make excellent plant milk– but how does it compete with cheaper alternatives? However, an air purifier isn't just brilliant for keeping allergies at bay; it's useful for reducing strong odors from activities such as cooking, painting or burning a candle. Very reasonably priced with easy filter subscriptions, but you do have to factor in this ongoing cost.

It’s like a little robot. Just put on auto and let it do its job. We had a terrible smoke problem due to the people downstairs and now we don’t smell it anymore. It’s nice to see the unit go into gear when the color codes appear. We now have 3 total different Blueair products. Not much to say here either. The Blue Pure 411 comes with its filter already installed so you just plug it in and, er, that's it. You can press the button on top for a little extra frisson of excitement if you like.

I was testing the unit in spring, when the pollen was affecting my husband's hay fever. As such, I kept the Blueair purifier running on auto the whole time, switching to Night mode at bed time. On several occasions I noticed the air quality light change from blue to orange, as well as red; the unit increased the speed accordingly, which was reassuring. But I’d use the Everyday mode in winter, when there are fewer contaminants that might irritae. The value of a particular product is largely based on the cost relative to its performance as compared to other products in the class. Ideally, a product will perform better than its peers while priced at or below the price of comparable products. The Blueair Blue Pure 411 costs far less than the class average, yet its overall performance is at an above-average level. As such, we find that the 411 provides users with a good value. Conclusion As for those wildfires, it will be interesting to see how this filter performs if we get a lot of smoke again like 2020. Subjectively, it performed well in 2021, keeping our indoor air clear on the smokiest days. I didn’t have an air quality monitor at the time, however, though I do plan on acquiring one this summer. If/when I get readings, I’ll update this post with results. CADR stands for Clean Air Delivery Rate and is an actual measurement of the amount of filtered air provided by the machine.This is the only true way to compare like for like between air purifiers when assessing how powerful they are. CADR is not the same as air volume which will always appear higher due to the fact that it is only a measurement of the units fan power (with no filter Installed). The Blueair Blue Pure 411 Auto arrives set up and ready to go out of the box. All I had to do was familiarize myself with the controls, which didn’t take long since there’s just one button and four settings. The air quality light was showing blue at first, but just one spray from a can of anti-perspirant deodorant in the area above the purifier, saw it change to orange within a few seconds. This tells me that the air quality sensors are doing their job.While the air purifier appears to clean the air, our reviewer, Michelle, is still in the process of extensively testing all of the AeroTower's features. In addition, the air purifier hasn't so far managed to exceed the level "Good" in terms of air quality, which is surprising given that Michelle has so many house plants to mop up the various negative particles in the air; but more testing will provide yet more insight.

Despite the picture above, there is no way I'd use this in the kitchen if you're doing high-temperature cooking that will produce smoke and oily fumes. Get a more butch air purifier if you're going to do that. Or, you know, turn on the kitchen extractor fan that is there to do that exact job. In addition to the smokey room test, we also evaluate the unit's CADR or clean air delivery rate. While many companies provide this information in a single number, the Blueair Blue Pure 411 breaks it up into three critical categories of air contamination — these are smoke, dust, and pollen. The 411's CADRs are about average for the class at 105 (Smoke), 120 (Dust), and 120 (Pollen). Noise My first impressions were excellent as this purifier is lightweight (under 4 lbs!), portable, and so easy to set up. The purifier was pretty much ready to go, right out of the box. With one of the two pre-filters already in place, all I had to do was slot the top (white) section of the unit on and turn it to secure the catches. After plugging it in (and reading the manual), I pressed the top center circle to start the purifier. Capacity: small to medium rooms between 100 sq. ft. and 175 sq. ft. (AHAM rated at 161 sq. ft) / 120 cubic ft/min Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR)The size and appearance of the 411 Auto air purifier where, in my opinion, Blueair has hit the spot. First, as a floor-standing air purifier it’s quite compact, which will make it suitable for most spaces. It weighs just 3.8lbs / 1.68kg, too, so is lightweight and easy to move from room to room. But, of course, how well the air in a room is purified – or the room temperature adjusted – will depend on the size of the room. For example, the LG PuriCare AeroTower Air Purifying Fan with True HEPA and UVnano LED can purify a room size of up to 818sq ft, whereas the Blueair Blue Pure 411 Auto is suitable for a room size of up to 441sq ft. Opt for an air purifier that isn't suitable for use in your room will mean that it ultimately won't be able to deliver optimum performance. A compact cylinder made of a choice of colourful plastics, the Blue Pure 411 is beautifully simple. It stands just 42.5cm tall and has a diameter of 20cm. It's among the simplest and most compact air purifiers you can get. During testing, Helen was impressed by the combination of its simplicity and stylish good looks. She also noticed improved air quality and freshness without any intrusive sound or excessive energy consumption. However, keep in mind that if you have very large rooms or open-plan areas then it won’t be up to the task.
