I made lots of highlights throughout this book - sentences and paragraphs that I want to go back to, to re-read and think more deeply about.It teaches us to understand the nature of our suffering, and tells us it is possible to liberate ourselves from that suffering. One of my favourite lessons was when one of the monks taught a simple message to say to yourself when you are feeling troubled saying "I may be wrong, I may be wrong, I may be wrong,". I found it interesting how he took the lessons he learnt from his life as a monk back into 'everyday' life in Sweden.

I often pass the ruins of a monastery when I’m out for a walk, and I wonder what it would have been like to live there four or five hundred years ago. Whatever your views on who or what God is, there are some people who keep close company with it or them. But thinking back on all those times people/I thought of me as irresponsible, and all those times when I felt other people were irresponsible – both causing much internal suffering in me – I realised most of the time, it is not that people choose to be irresponsible.

In September 2018, Lindeblad was diagnosed with ALS, which in various ways affected his continued lecturing activities. it was really funny at times like when he talked about his dislikment of shaq and other nba players. It's not only laced with the most incredible wisdom, but it's also gentle and beautiful and eloquent. This book pulled me in with its Buddhist wisdom appeal but I have been deeply moved and troubled by it.

I enjoyed the various parables that he's learned from his along the way, they illustrated how our lives aren't so different and we face many of the same problems. I'm happy to note that Charles, for the most part, enjoyed his playing days and the fans in Philadelphia.Whether you're looking for some textbooks for university, the latest biography or a travel guide - you'll find what you need in our categories. He learnt and noted the changes within himself from the teachings of Buddhist wisdom during that 17-year sojourn. I absolutely loved listening to this book, a fascinating life told so beautifully, with humour and humility, a real feeling of calm comes through the pages, what a wonderful book.
