Memories flood to the forefront of my mind from what happened after I awoke in bed with the Boogie Man and decided to perform the banishment spell. Breed for the Beast: Breeding for a beast was not the fairy tale, happily ever after ending I had in mind… Moreover, the portrayal of Henry’s and Alienor’s internal conflicts, wherein the battle between rationality and desire ensues, provides a captivating glimpse into the depths of their being.

But it’s not long before I start wondering if I even want my freedom. Especially when Lugh gives me more respect (and orgasms) than my husband ever did. The story is about a witch who is stalked by a monster at night. He destroys her room and steals her underwear and our poor girls is torned about it because nobody believes her that an animal of sorts is breaking into her room.

Grief swirls around me like a draft. It’s a culmination of the loss of my hound, the Boogie Man’s deception, and the realization that the magic I welded was never mine. More sunlight than usual shines through my eyelids, adding to my suspicions. From the warmth on my face, he’s shredded the curtains. Her coven, staunch in their belief that Alienor's claims stem from a disrupted slumber rather than veracity, begin to question both her sanity and her ability to wield her magical prowess. Consequently, the contemplation of stripping her of these gifts gains momentum, casting a shadow over her once steadfast standing within the coven. I’m not even sure how the cottage even caught fire. Tiny tendrils of smoke rise from the rubble, only to get caught in the invisible barrier above the garden. Grandma must have kept the tendrils within the confines of her wards to keep what I did from the Magical Council.

If the Council discovers I performed a spell of this magnitude in our coven’s headquarters, it won’t just be me who gets into trouble. They’d punish Grandma, Aunt Klara, Aggie, and all the other members. To say I enjoyed this read would be a bit of an understatement, it is now firmly within my read over and over list. Okay so, I love Siggy Shade with my whole heart, but at 90% I not only DNF—I could not finish…I’ve been cringing since around 60%…I tried! I tend to read the ending when I really like a book just to make sure I want to keep reading. The ending was okay so I tried to get through the remaining 80% of the book, but I found myself skimming over the last 20% before stopping because it just got worse and worse. I tried REALLY hard to love this book. What’s there not to love? It has witches, fae, a sweet heroine who calms a “gentle” giant of a man, a man who would burn down the world just for her etc etc. Don’t get me wrong! The first half was great! The story and the world building was beautiful. The FMC was an absolute treat. She is very sweet and kind. The MMC is a true gentleman when he’s not absolutely out of his mind. The last half however took a really weird turn. I could do with the chamomile fields scene—that was weird but not over the top, but then it just got worse and worse from there…I already hated Alienor’s family for being ridiculously emotionally abusive from start to finish, grandma and Aggie’s secret, the revelation of what funds the apothecary with the battle scene to their first time together physically I couldn’t do it—I couldn’t stop cringing. I guess the words “spunk” and “d!ldoifying” turned my on buttons off the more they were thrown around the book…that and the over the top fight scene. Idk. Nobody believes he exists—not even my coven, who think I’m crazy. When the other witches threaten to bind my magic, I set up a hidden camera. The spell I performed to banish the Boogie Man must have burned through the fabric of reality. I probably would have known this if I had bothered to read all the fine print, but I was in no fit state to consider any consequences after discovering him in my bed.
