In Spring 1941, Britain and the Colonial armies stood alone against Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. Britain was clinging on in North Africa, defending its vital supply route of the Suez Canal. He said, “To create a drama from this amazing story I had to sculpt a world where things are a little bit heightened, much like how war and the absurdity of it heightens every emotion.” Spring, 1943. With David Stirling captured and Paddy Mayne now in charge of the SAS, their attention must turn from the conflict in North Africa to mainland Europe. But GHQ have cast doubt over the future of the regiment, while the creation of a new unit and a surprise arrival make things even more difficult for the men. SAS Rogue Heroes will air on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK, MGM+ in the United States, and is distributed internationally by Banijay Rights. What also didn’t help is that the trailer made it looks like SAS Rogue Heroes is a full-on action adventure, but in watching the opener, it feels like it’s all sitting around and talking, rather than actually getting involved in any action. It’s just so is slow to get going. I’ve finished the first episode, and I’m still waiting for it to start!
