He's an officious man who values his position over justice. He caters to the whims of the wealthy and doesn't seem to like scandal and Jeremy Marks ALWAYS brought scandal with him. Mr. Marks wasn't even a member and if his fiancé really did break it off with him as the gossips claim, Mr. Farley would have no reason to keep Mr. Marks around. Plus Mr. Farley flat out lies to the Inspector, more than once I think. I can definitely recommend this if you want an interesting mystery and some fun interactions with some lovely people. Now, I have to wait for the next one.

I don't know if I will be able to find the other 33 books in the series, but I'm certainly going to read a great number of them! This book was well-written and witty. Mrs. Jeffries and the other servants in the house are likable characters, and readers will find themselves loving the bumbling Witherspoon just as much as they do. This is my go-to light cozy who-done-it so after a couple of really heavy reads and a bit of upheaval in real life “Mrs. Jeffries Aims to Win” it is. In Book 12, Mrs. Jeffries investigates dual mysteries: a missing artist’s model and a suspicious death among Neville Grant’s houseguests. With her team’s help, she navigates the chaos and employs her polished detection skills. The fact that the series has lasted so long is a testament to how wonderful this series is. By now all the characters – Inspector Witherspoon, Constable Barnes, Mrs. Jeffries, Luty Belle, Hatchett, Ruth, Smythe, Betsy, Mrs. Goodge, Phyllis, and Wiggins all feel like old friends and I love visiting with them again. The setup for each book is the same – Witherspoon and Barnes question the suspects while Mrs. Jeffries and friends talk to servants, shopkeepers, etc. to get clues that Mrs. Jeffries puts together to solve the murder but Brightwell manages to keep the series fresh with each book. This book has plenty of suspects which allows the reader to try and solve the mystery alongside Mrs. Jeffries. There are also plenty of twists and turns and a few red herrings – I thought for sure I knew who the killer was but I was totally wrong. Finally, the book ends with a couple of cliffhangers that make me eagerly await the next book in the series.
