The main cleaning head has a suction tube sandwiched between two soft rollers that rotate in opposing directions, but you can move the head in any direction you please, meaning it’s great at getting around awkward table legs and weird nooks. Unlike other hard floor cleaners, this doesn’t come with a wet clean or wash option, but it does have plenty of attachments.

It’s cordless so you need to charge the battery before you can use it and this didn’t take long at all. A fully charged battery gives you 45 minutes of cleaning time and realistically that is enough to clean all your home’s hard floors in one go, faster than ever before! The PowerGlide City floor cleaning machine is the result of 2 years of thoughtful design and, as a result, it is truly effortless to use. This is a cordless hard floor buffer that makes seriously light work of cleaning your floors. The hard floor cleaner’s tank can be filled with water, or your favourite diluted cleaning solution, such as Cif, Flash, Method or Bona – all of these are perfect for use with PowerGlide City. First things first: this is a super-expensive robot vacuum cleaner and mop. So, what’s it doing on this list? Quite simply, it’s the best automated mop that we have reviewed before. While most robot vacuum cleaners that can mop usually just drip water onto a microfibre cloth, the X1 Omni is different. All of these models are built to take care of hard floors, with dedicated cleaning heads and detergent formulated to clean up dirt and leave a streak-free finish. The Powerglide uses two rotating microfibre cloths alongside a spray control to direct your choice of detergent where you want it to go. It cleans well, it can handle more delicate floors, and even has cloths designed for waxing and polishing. The first thing of which I became aware was that it’s essential to vacuum first. There’s no vacuuming action on the Powerglide, so surface dirt just gets flung around. What you want is a floor that has more ingrained marks, free of dust.

That’s completely up to you. However, if you’re in a household with heavy traffic – for example, lots of people and/or animals – we suggest using your hard floor cleaner every few days. After use, hard floors dried in a matter of seconds, which means you don't have to hang around waiting. It cleaned all of our stains and dirt effortlessly, too. However, we did notice that it left some light streaks around the edges and that it struggled to clean right into the grouting on tiled floors. That being said, it still did a good job of cleaning right up to the edges, thanks to the flexibility of the pads. The Powerglide can clean up to 20sqm per minute, although speed will depend on how soiled your floor is: dirtier parts of a floor may require more attention. To test, I put the Powerglide through its paces in my kitchen, which routinely becomes dirty thanks to four cats coming in and going out. As lots of you know I am a huge fan of cleaning my floors daily. So when I was approached by AirCraft Home to try their new PowerGlide hard floor cleaner I was a little sceptical. But I love to try every cleaning gadget going and put the very best ones forward to my audience. This model has dual spinning microfibre cloths that actually agitate and remove dirt. It does almost as a good a job at cleaning as a manual steam mop or floor cleaner, only with no actual effort. Used in a well-used kitchen, we found that we only needed to get out a manual floor cleaner every couple of weeks or so, and that was mostly to get right into the edges where the robot can’t reach.

We measured battery life at 21m 13s in our tests, which was enough to clean our 25m² kitchen and wiz around the rest of our downstairs. There are a few minor complains: the software isn’t quite as flexible as some of the competition, and if you have carpets it can be fiddly working out how to clean them without getting them wet. We’d also avoid using the integrated voice assistant, as it’s hard to get it to understand.
