Before going any further, if you're a PC-building beginner, you'll want to read our deep-dive PC Cooling 101 guide to learn everything you need to know about CPU coolers. We'll summarize a few points from that article here, but won't be covering it in anywhere near the same depth. At this price point, boasting the performance I have witnessed, the ID-Cooling Frostflow+ 280 gets a Play3r Gold Award…and it’s very well deserved. The previous three AIO coolers we have tested have all performed really well, and all have walked away with our recommended award. This time we have our first 280mm variant from ID-Cooling, that comes with the promise of the very best value for money possible, without compromising on performance. RGB LED, 240mm Radiator, Copper Base, Dual High Pressure Pump, High Static Pressure Fan, Wide Compatibility I have a PCS Cooler and use ASUS Armoury Crate. It is utterly rubbish software really but it works! It has a few default profile options.

It’s been more than 5 months since we had an ID-Cooling product on our test bench, but today we wait no longer, as we have the privilege of being able to test their newest product on the market…namely the Frostflow+ 280. First impressions are that this is a pretty nice looking unit. Most noticeable is that the pump on this model has a much more conservative look than either of the previous AIO coolers we’ve seen from ID-COOLING. There’s no comet tail LED effect that the 240 sports, nor anything like the intricate design from the ICEKIMO. This is my build and I'm deciding if i need to spend the extra money between the PCS FROSTFLOW 360 SERIES ARGB COOLER or CORSAIR H150I RGB PRO XT CPU COOLER, which one is better? the same? or performance? Inside a PC, a stereo amplifier, or a smartphone, one red line runs through them all: The circuits inside generate heat, and something's got to keep things cool. The hardware used to keep PC components from overheating has undergone a revolution over the last decade, with once-rare liquid coolers now widely used in high-performance desktops and some cooling hardware playing a key cosmetic role in show-off gaming rigs and custom builds. It’s not the most robust in terms of build quality, but this is reflected in the price that you have to pay for this unit…which leads us nicely onto Value! Value Comet-Tail LED, 240mm Radiator, Copper Base, Dual High Pressure Pump, High Static Pressure Fan, Wide CompatibilityRadiators marketed as "360mm" may sound better than "280mm," but this naming scheme only takes into account the combined length of the fans, and ignores their width. Spinning at the same speed, two 140mm fans will cool almost as well as three 120mm ones, while making less noise, being easier to maintain, and fitting into cases with 5.25" bays. Not only does Corsair's iCUE H100i Elite Capellix cooler have an enticing aesthetic design, it also has one of the lowest-rated noise production levels that we've seen on a CPU water cooler. To be fair, the cooler can get a bit loud when the fans and pump are operating at full speed—when everything's revved up, Corsair says, the noise can climb to 37dBA. At ideal temperatures, however, the Elite Capellix is rated for as little as 10dBA, which is practically inaudible assuming the number holds in your specific build. Also, their own tutorial for Aura Creator shows the temperature dependent function - but it doesn't actually exist for any user it seems. The default one under Armoury Crate just changes to three colours Green, Yellow or Red, at temperatures that you can adjust. But you can't adjust the the colours or brightness and it doesn't blend between them - just instantly changes as it crosses the temp threhsold. The cooler isn't sufficient for the processor, the 7900 can put out 140w at full load, that cooler is good for about 65w, that's why it's noisy because the cooler is overloaded. Regular visitors to Play3r will know that we have been impressed with the two 240mm AIO coolers that we have been sent by ID-Cooling to date… namely the FrostFlow 240Land the ICEKIMO 240W. This time we have one of the 120mm varieties on the test bench in the shape of the FrostFlow 120. Does half the size equal half the performance? Or will it rub shoulders with its bigger brothers on the Play3r CPU cooling charts?

So, while I expect the occasional more noisy flurry when it's really being pushed, my issue that it's noisy and whining at much lower fan usage levels. The PCS Coolers generally aren't recommended as you can probably tell. The Hyper 212 will do a good job, it's what I have on my i7-8700 and I get mid to high 60 degress on games which is a decent temp under load. The previous ID-Cooling AIO’s we have tested have all been solid performers…and the Frostflow+ 280 is no different. Thermals were kept under control superbly well, and beat off competition from some pretty big names in our ever-expanding league tables.

yeah I will be also need icue for the case i have and going to be changing cooler fan to corsair LL120. only other issue i have atm is getting a graphics card was hoping for a 3070 or 3080 but not a prayer of getting at the min Only thing I would suggest is having a 2nd m.2 drive one 500gb for your os and another for your gamesPerhaps it is unfair of me to say it is rubbish - it's just clunkier and less capable than I had hoped. I do like that you can have app sepcific RGB profiles - I have two set up - one for Lightroom and one for Gaming. It should also be noted that the reason we omit acoustic/noise testing is due to accuracy within the readings. To provide truly accurate readings, you need a lab setting with the same ambient noise on a hour by hour, day by day and week by week basis. As ambient noise can increase at different times of the day, we believe that it’s pointless providing noise testing if we can’t measure consistent and accurate data due to our office being a busy setting. Test Setup So you can get coolers (and case fans) that can brute force their way to the top of benchmark charts if measured by thermal performance alone, but this is often at the expense of noise. So a truly great cooler will not only cool the CPU, but do so at a lower noise level. And this is where the likes of Noctua coolers are king, but they do less well in the third metric, price. The Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 (and the almost identical SE version) are the improved successors to the Peerless Assassin series that shook the market last year. In all but the most demanding scenarios, they will perform just as well as the best CPU coolers on the market, while remaining just as quiet, for less than half the price. Very much agree on the PSU as well, you’d don’t configure it to your current needs, if the pc is configured correctly it should last 7 years or so with minor upgrades, those upgrades can only be done if there’s headroom on the PSU.
