The Jura ENA 4 claims to brew four beverages: espresso, coffee, espresso doppio (two 1.5-ounce shots of espresso), and caffe doppio (two coffees, brewed in succession). Some might consider these just two beverages, with the ability to brew two cups of coffee in succession. Compared to other Jura machines, the Jura A1 is decidedly no-frills and more affordable. However, that doesn’t mean it compromises on the most important element – the quality of the coffee it produces. Another welcome change is the combination of the IPBAS and PEP that’s been added to the brewing process. These aren’t just fancy and mysterious acronyms! The Intelligent Pre-Brew Aroma System and the patented Pulse Extraction Process that are unique to Jura mimic manual extraction methods and were specifically designed with short specialty coffees in mind. The Swiss company enjoys a deservedly stellar reputation for the quality of its super-automatic espresso machines, so any espresso machine carrying its name is almost guaranteed to offer coffee shop-quality coffee. The Jura A1 espresso machine is designed for using whole coffee beans and the stainless steel Aroma G3 grinder is quiet and very good for getting those perfectly uniform grounds for brewing. This may seem a bit silly but most super automatic machines have this feature in case you want decaf or something so you don’t need to empty the beans hopper to do so. The Jura A1 is no exception, producing the highest quality espresso. It seems I am not the only one either, as they have put a lot of thought and effort into designing the Jura A1, its not just an espresso machine but also a kitchen sculpture. Which is a bit annoying for so much money, certainly above the JuraA1 coffee maker, personally I’d want at least 2different coffeeswith milk.Meanwhile, the Jura A1 houses the upgraded Aroma G3 grinder, which grinds at twice the speed of the previous G2 grinder while losing none of the quality and consistency. Of course, the fact there is a high-quality built-in grinder also means you don’t need to spend extra on a separate grinder. The Aroma G3 is an integrative conical burr grinder which allows you to adjust the coarseness and fineness of the ground coffee.

Many of the features that make Jura so popular are found on both models. Both come equipped with the PEP pre-infusion system, which helps create a great-tasting espresso shot every time. A concealed lid holds the bean hopper at the top of the machine. Flip open the lid, and pour in up to 4.4oz of coffee beans. The rear location of the water reservoir is a great space-saver. However, it’s harder to get to than one at the front or side. Therefore, you’ll need to lift it out to refill it. So, filling it with a kettle is your best option. The Jura A1 makes a superb milkless beverage and comes with a high level of programmability for each beverage. For some reason, you can’t clean the milk spout immediately after use without going into manually clean it through the menu. If you wait 10 minutes you can do it with a push of a button but this delay is very puzzling and not helpful for keeping your milk wand clean.
