This does not need to be booked in advance with us. You are able to decide when you arrive on the night whether you wish to sleepover. Dubbed 'Mr Nobody' by the local press in 1968 - this poltergeist is recognised as being one of the most violent in European history. PLEASE NOTE: It is NOT possible to visit the house in groups larger than 4 without the support of a professional/speciali st organisation possessing liability insurance. We wont go too much into detail over what happened to Diane Pritchard for fear of power of suggestion and we suggest that you do not read too much detail on this property before you investigate it. We will then hopefully be able to have a fresher insight into what is going on. The film, 'When The Lights Went Out' was based purely on some of the terrifying experiences of this poor family. Please note that the house has 1 DOUBLE, 1 SINGLE and 1 SMALL SINGLE BED and YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE YOUR OWN BEDDING.

This is one B&B the owner DOESN'T recommend you stay in, it has that much history (and having witnessed events for himself) even he won't stay there. Owner Bil Bungay is an Ad man and film producer. When asked why he bought the most infamous haunted house in Europe? He said he had recently made a movie about the house called When the Lights Went Out and was looking for ways to promote the movie when the house came up for sale - and was cheap! East Drive, Pontefract IS NOT a traditional guesthouse, Hotel, B&B or party venue – and the owner recommends that you DO NOT visit, especially if you are of a nervous disposition or have a heart condition.

The owner himself has never spent the night there, and has no intention of doing so any time soon, having personally witnessed ‘It’. There are beds but no bedding (so bring your own), a kettle but no breakfast, smells a little damp – not because of any leaks, but mainly because of the old well (down which the body of the executed monk and his victims are said to have been thrown) that sits directly under the house. This is occasionally mitigated by the dry heat from the (professionally maintained) central heating system when ’It’ chooses to leave it alone. East Drive, also known asThe Poltergeist House, is reputed to be one of the most haunted houses in the UK and has many similarities to the infamous Enfield Hauntings. The activity here has been so intense causing a family to abandon their home in the mid 1970's. This unassuming building has become the focus for Yorkshire horror stories, people who have stayed here have been tormented by the infamous monk, who makes himself known very loudly to those who enter here. Abandoned for years there is a strange musty smell which you would expect after nobody has lived there. The house itself is unassuming and there are some artefacts which demonstrate that people have lived here as their home, it is a bit like entering a time warp where nothing has changed. I went on my first ghost hunt with Haunted Happenings at The Ancient Ram Inn and I will 100% be booking more. Even though we didn not have an awful lot of things happen during the tour, the staff were amazing and made everyone feel as ease. I have a huge new interest in the paranormal and this was the perfect trip to start with. The Ancient Ram Inn was very spooky to walk around and I liked the fact we had our own free time to explore. Both of the hosts were amazing and had a lot of knowledge and made us first timers feel more confident, thank you so much!

Securing places by a deposit This was just the beginning and nobody could ever have predicted how much they would endure over the next several years. A foam which was green in colour would come out of taps and toilets even though the water had been turned off, lights were turnedon and off repeatedly with no apparent fault. Cupboards would shake violently and objects around the house wereslashed. Pictures were shredded and plants mysteriously leapt out of their plant pot on many occasions. Furniture was known to move on its own, even heavy sideboards. If however you get a thrill from the idea of spending time in a 50’s build ex-council house in the unpredictable presence of one of the most terrifying poltergeists in history – be our guest. All you’ll need to do is pay something towards the maintenance of the property and respectfully abide by some rules. Banking details or Pay Pal request will be sent through when a date is penciled followed by a confirmation letter/receipt with detailed visiting information. The furniture is 70’s authentic (it was bought from charity shops locally as the original furniture was removed by the Pritchard family– as represented in the movie When the Lights Went Out– before they sold the property) as is the overall experience; the temperamental cooker is original and dishwashers didn’t exist in the 70’s, if you get the drift? Oh, and on one fairly recent occasion, the bed in the small room (Diane’s) was trashed by the poltergeist ( ‘Fred’) during a 3am loss of temper, so please bear this in mind when deciding to spend the night in this particular room.
