What: Irish luxury chocolatiers Butlers are a safe option this Easter - not only are they one of the few remaining family-owned chocolatiers around, but they have a great rep for sustainable sourcing and delicious chocolate. There are lots of different eggs on offer but we’d keep it classic with this smooth milk chocolate number. No matter how old we get, there’s something about the joy of a chocolate Easter egg that fills us with glee. Whether it’s unwrapping the foil coating or discovering the hidden treats inside, our love for Easter eggs is as strong as when we were five years old. All of the Easter Eggs in this section of guide, at the time of writing, are gluten free, dairy free and safe for people with coeliac disease. Most plain chocolate eggs are free from gluten but sadly some have 'may contain' warnings which mean they are not coeliac-safe. What: Happi’s oat milk chocolate is one of the better vegan and free-from options we’ve come across, and they do multiple flavours including salted caramel and chocolate orange. What: Another beloved Swiss chocolatier, Laderach is best known for slabs of nuttyFrischSchoggi, which is also available in bunny shapes this Easter. If you're keeping things a bit more classic, go for this handsome Easter Bunny in Laderach's delicious milk chocolate (but also available in lots of other flavours and combos). What: A long-time favourite of the Royal Family, Charbonnel et Walker is the chocolatier we turn to for peak opulence. This dark chocolate egg does the job nicely, coming with a crown of fine dark chocolate and silky truffles.

What: Brand new this year, Dorset chocolatiers Chococo have a quality vegan Easter egg on offer too, made using oat milk and 43% Colombia origin chocolate. Chococo eggs are always beautifully finished as well, making this a lovely gift for a vegan pal, if you can manage not to eat it before you give it away. What: If you’re going for the creme de la creme Easter Egg this year, you can’t go wrong with Ducasse. The master chef has turned his hand to chocolate in recent years and it’s unsurprisingly brilliant, taking single origin cacao from bear to bar then fashioning it into pleasing geometric shapes, designed by French designer Pierre Tachon. You may find one size Easter egg from a brand is gluten free, while a different size has a 'may contain' warning. Gather together a few hungry mates to polish it off. If you're not avoiding dairy, many 'normal' Easter eggs are free from gluten-containing ingredients anyway.
