Around the 17 minute mark, the dialogue noticeably drifts a little bit off on both the MGM DVD and their later blu and lasts for the duration of the scene. But if you've watched a lot of films because of their alluringly outrageous titles, you're probably used to being disappointed. They are precisely as we would imagine them in our worst nightmares — revoltingly phantasmagoric grotesqueries from another world that want to eat you, not bring a smile to your face. Killer Klowns is loaded with all the tongue-in-cheek goofiness you'd expect from three brothers who created stop-motion horror movies as kids and continued doing what they loved into adulthood. Meanwhile, the harvested humans are slowly being turned into cotton candy and the clowns are reeking havoc on the small town, one deadly sideshow trick at a time.

Dialogue is uneven in both cases, usually due to environmental issues – as in some locations are more drier or more echoey than others. childhood 8mm "epics", many of which attempted to mimic some their special effects heroes, like stop action icon Ray Harryhausen. It almost feels a bit like a throwaway feature but Chiodo’s comments on their effects work and seeing the work they have done on other films proved very fascinating. Some people might even be a little put off by it; but comparing it to the previous editions, it's clear the older discs are only less grainy by virtue of smudging it away. There can no longer be any doubt - the Killer Klowns from Outer Space are here and they re out to turn the population into candy floss!Equal parts ‘50s throwback, ‘80s satire, and effects demo-reel, Killer Klowns from Outer Space was destined for a cult following and is well-made enough to earn that status. Both have positive stories to share and they talk fondly of the directors, indicating they were very helpful, explaining to them their final vision, which wasn’t always apparent. But Killer Klowns delivers, living up to everything your imagination casts up when it hears the title and taking you so much further than you'd even hoped to go.
