November –Youthscape publish their first podcast “Better Supporting Abuse Victims”, HERE with Justin Humphreys, about Youth Ministry After Mike Pilavachi. August –James Heywood has published THIS blog about Pete Grieg in the context of Mike Pilavachi and Soul Survivor. Kingsgate Community Church, Peterborough (speaker at the European Learning Community events, 2013 onwards). May –Matthew Drapper posted a video HERE of Mike Pilavachi being unpleasant to a keyboard player at Soul Survivor. The keyboard player involved responded on May 10th HERE to say the video showed “fun and banter”and that Pilavachi was “not being malicious). September –New Wine posted THIS new statement apologising for their 13th September statement. They stated, “We fully recognise that this statement caused great pain, disappointment, and confusion. We deeply regret that the statement implied we were trying to minimise the relationship between New Wine and Mike Pilavachi. We are profoundly sorry.” However, their statement did not include any details of New Wine’s relationship with Mike Pilavachi.June – THIS article “Soul Survivor: From a big tent to the heart of parish churches”was published by the Church Times. May –Premier Christianity publish an opinion piece from Tim Wyatt HERE suggesting that media reporting of the situation evidencing poor religious literacy by secular media. Prayer International announcedon 21st March 2022 that they had asked their CEO Mike Andrea to step down from leadership after an investigation into concerns that he had been abusive in another leadership role (unrelated to his work at 24-7).They said: “we are requiring Mike Andrea to submit to a process of personal and professional training and development, to which he has agreed, prior to considering any new role within the organisation that has yet to be defined.”And that, “This has been one of the most challenging situations that we have faced as an organisation…and we are grateful to those who have spoken up courageously to help us continue to become more like Jesus. We know there are areas where we have failed, and for that we are truly sorry. We would ask you to continue to remember those who have been most deeply hurt by these experiences in your prayers.”

April –The Telegraph publish THIS article about the Charity Commission investigating the Soul Survivor situation. May –Mind and Soul UK publish THIS article to provide resources and support to those struggling with the situation. June –Surviving Church published THIS article by Gilo about the current Lead Safeguarding Bishop with brief mention of the Soul Survivor situation.September –Relationship Mission Sphere of New Frontiers posted THIS statement about the investigation findings, without once using the term “abuse”. September –Evangelical Alliance CEO, Gav Calver, posted THIS statement about the findings of the investigation. September –Youth for Christ made THIS statement about the situation that throughout fails to mention Mike Pilavachi by name. June – THIS article was published by the Church Times “Concerns about Canon Mike Pilavachi ‘were voiced’ in 2004”. Paul writes, “ just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ” ( 1 Corinthians 12:12). Every person is essential to the body of Christ, both women and men working together in unity. 10. Women are loved by Jesus.

April –The Church of England’s Independent Safeguarding Board whistleblow to the national media HERE about the Church of England being hostile and unnecessarily challenging. Incidentally, David Westlake founded the Cinnamon Network with Matt Bird (they’ve recently rebranded as NAYBA) and Matt Bird describes himself as a “strategic adviser” to Soul In The City and Hope. [xxxi]Another incidental is that Laurence Singlehurst’s daughter, Keira Phyo, previously worked for Tearfund alongside David Westlake and now works for Lambeth Palace.Another link between Soul Survivor and Lambeth Palace is David Saunderson.Saunderson was a Director of the Lambeth Trust from 2012 until July 2023, [xxxii]and was also a Director of Soul61 from 2013 until 31st March 2023, [xxxiii]two days before the Church of England and Soul Survivor issued statements about Mike Pilavachi stepping down. The Lambeth Trust supports the work and mission of present and former Archbishops of Canterbury.In 2020, Archbishop Justin Welby awarded Mike Pilavachi the Alphege Award for Evangelism and Witness. The intensity of the pain is such that if I let myself go near it my chest hurts and I feel as though I cannot breathe.September –Premier Christianity pulished THIS article by Jane Chevous “The silence from Christian leaders on Mike Pilavachi is hurting victims”. April –The Times published THIS article entitled “He ran the ‘Christian Glastonbury’. Then the questions started.” David Westlake began to work at Tearfund as Youth Director in 1996, [xxiv]and from there a strong partnership was built between Tearfund and Soul Survivor, through Soul Actionwhich was incorporated as a company in 1994. [xxv]Money raised at Soul Survivor festivals would be donated to Tearfund projects, Tearfund employees would deliver seminars on justice at Soul Survivor, and much of Soul Survivor’s commitment to justice was outworked through Tearfund projects and the ability for young people to support these projects with money and volunteering efforts. Some Soul61 young people and those who previously worked at Soul Survivor also went onto be employed by Teafund within David Westlake’s team. August –Probably unrelated to Soul Survivor, but within the same evangelical charismatic circles, Pioneer Trust state HERE that they have launched an independent investigation into their late foudner Gerald Coates’ behaviour.

May –New Wine publish THIS statement (it’s dated 10th May, but was reported by Premier on 5th May). Any of those situations sound familiar to women you know? He’s the same God today—who fills the same needs He met in the Bible. 3. God uses women to carry out His divine plan. Since Soul Survivor ended in 2019, there are three other significant connections that are worth mentioning.As Mike Pilavachi closed down Soul Survivor, he did so having approached a few different organisations to pass on the “Christian youth festival” baton.These were:Scripture describes several roles for women. Wife, mother, helper, teacher, and homemaker are a few. But the overarching objective for women is to further the kingdom of God. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” ( Ephesians 2:10). Our good works point toward the love of Jesus. In the creation story, God equally created man and woman in his image ( Genesis 1:27). Man did not receive more of God’s image than the woman. Scripture outlines the roles of Christian women and men, but God created women to share fully in representing who He is. God designed a specific story for every woman. That story might be one of a prodigal past or as a life-long follower of Christ. Whatever the path, by telling the story of how God’s love changed our lives, we share the good news and fulfill our purpose. There is a woman somewhere waiting to hear your story and learn how God loves them too. Jesus did not act as someone who expected women to serve Him hand and foot. Instead, His hands and feet would be pierced out of His great love for them.
