Packed with twists, turns, and drama throughout, it was the most incredible end to my favourite series ever. My only criticism is that Meggie was given a Caribbean accent (must probably because she's first encountered after having cooked plantain and fishcakes, so an assumption was made), despite the fact that she is a naught and this is critical to her character. I believe that the more you interweave modern concepts into the story, in an unsubtle way, it loses its dystopic nature, turning into a current affairs story with dystopic elements. I knew there were lots of loose ends deliberately laid throughout the series that would have to be tied together in Endgame, even if I really didn’t want it to happen!

I couldn’t really understand some of the characters - especially Tobey, I really couldn’t keep up with his ever-changing thought patterns and attitude. Blackman cleverly brings this universe right up to date by taking contemporary news stories, such as films using 'poverty porn', a lack of uptake for vaccinations in the "WAME" community (we are in a backwards world here remember), and the war on drugs. We start this book exactly where Crossfire left off, with tensions running high and politics at the forefront.The first Nought Prime Minister, Tobey Durbridge, has been framed for murder, and Sephy under suspicion. I know that's an intentional part of the mystery, but this extended beyond that with his (and other characters') weird book-to-book development. She has been awarded numerous prizes for her work, including the Red House Children’s Book Award, and has also been shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal.

Holly Bourne is a great advocate of young teens reading about difficult issues as a 'safe space' to consider and discuss those issues, this book does a great job in that sphere. I almost forgot to say that 😂😂) I'm glad to be leaving this series on a positive note, because it truly has had its ups and downs.

There were ten seats at Dan's dinner party the night he was killed and each guest had their own reasons for wishing him dead. I have to admit, that I am interested in reading the series from the start to see if it is as entertaining as this one! In 2005 she was honoured with the Eleanor Farjeon Award in recognition of her contribution to children’s books, and in 2008 she received an OBE for her services to children’s literature. I am truly sad to be leaving the world of noughts and crosses behind - for anyone debating whether to pick up this series and see it through to the end, please please do!
