The story of Marion Crawford -- governess to the princesses Elizabeth and Margaret from 1932 to 1950 -- is a compelling one; the writing of Fern Britton, for me, is less so.Additionally, we occasionally include insights into the writing process, thematic elements, or how each book fits into the larger tapestry of the series.

Her mother, like the Queen, had been in the Auxillary Terratorial Service (ATS) during the Second World War. I for one, would like to think that Marion was influenced by her husband, the world he existed in was so far removed from Marion’s, there was a sense of jealously. All the characters are well developed, and the naivete of Marion toward her future husband was actually so annoying, yet, she couldn't see his corruptive nature until it was too late.
