There are multiple ways to buy the DJI Avata FPV, though which of these you need depends on if you own the original FPV hardware and what Goggles you'd like to use it with. Find out the difference between the DJI Goggles 2 and DJI FPV Goggles V2: The Goggles 2 feature some key upgrades, including wireless streaming, diopter adjustment, new head control method, and a lighter, more comfortable design. The compact size of the DJI Avata causes a minor annoyance, however. The MicroSD card slot is placed behind a cover on the body, but access is very tight since you have to reach between the propeller blades. Even a person with small fingers will find it challenging to take a card out with one hand and there’s a danger of dropping the card, which could be heartbreaking if it was lost after capturing some amazing shots with the Avata. DJI Avata has arrived and brings with it a creative new way to capture dynamic FPV footage! The DJI Avata is available in two different combos at two different price points; the Pro-View and Fly Smart Combos. Let’s investigate what’s included with each combo to determine which one you should buy. Both DJI drones can capture 4K resolution at up to 60fps and 1080p at up to 120fps. The Avata’s smaller propellers create a higher pitch than the FPV, which makes it more noticeable.

A fun but expensive introduction to FPV drone flying

Often the size of the sensor is overkill for video capture, and only a small portion of it is used to achieve the maximum 4K resolution. What DJI did with the Avata is use some of that extra additional capture to add a new feature, HorizonSteady. The all-in-one Fly Smart Combo comes with everything you need, including the DJI FPV Goggles V2 and DJI Motion Controller, allowing you to truly feel flight. Why DJI called these the Goggles 2 when they already have a Goggles V2 is beyond us, but it seems destined to confuse DJI’s customers. So if the goggles are the primary difference between the combos, which is best? Frankly, there’s no right or wrong answer and the option you choose will largely depend on your budget and needs.

The DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 is required for operators who want to fly the Avata in M (Manual) mode for complete and limitless control. This mode is designed for experienced FPV pilots. This feature was handy on one of our flying days when the wind was gusty. Without HorizonSteady active, the video was at a severe angle even when flying in a straight line. Both these features can be disabled, but for serious cinematographers aiming to save time in post-production, they’re invaluable. DJI Goggles 2 support diopter adjustment from -8.0 D to +2.0 D and also come with free eyeglass frames.DJI Goggles 2 adopt DJI's latest flagship O3+ Video Transmission, which can achieve high-definition and low-latency video transmission. DJI Goggles 2 vs DJI FPV Goggles V2: Key Specs Tested with a production model DJI Avata in a controlled environment. Actual experience may vary depending on the environment, usage, and firmware version. If FPV flyers want the highest quality video, they usually strap an action camera to their machines, making them even more challenging to fly. This bare-bones option is suited to operators who are already part of the DJI FPV ecosystem but want to upgrade their drone.

On the Avata, this is still an issue, but only when the wide-angle modes are being used and the camera is pointing downwards.
