Does this sound familiar: you blew the kitchen and cabinet renovation budget on a high end stainless steel stove or range? Maybe it’s a Thermador or a Viking or a Wolf. Or maybe it’s a Miele or GE. Whatever it is, you tried to keep it safe from damage, but somehow it got scratched… In the end, it seems that using a drum sander is a viable way to repair your stainless steel appliance; however, you are much better off finding someone to do the repair for you, if possible. See below where I find people in many metro areas. Finding a professional to do stainless steel scratch repair In the end, we found all of the three stainless steel scratch repair kits to be similar in results. If you are trying to get out a real scratch in your stainless steel appliance, none of these kits are going to be particularly useful. It’s a good idea to apply the paint to the affected area in the direction of the scratch. This will help avoid any obvious brush marks once it’s dry. If the damage to your fridge is more severe, it might be a good idea to apply two or three coats of the repair paint. Just make sure to allow each layer to dry fully between coats.

In our testing, we got nearly identical results with Scratch-B-Gone that we got with the Rejuvenate kit. Non-gel toothpaste can be used to remove scratches from stainless steel if you don’t have a stainless steel cleaner available. Dab a small amount of non-gel whitening toothpaste onto the scratch and rub in a circular, even motion. As I wrote earlier, if you can, you should try to find a professional to do the repair for you. The problem is, it can be very hard to find someone. The problem is not that these people don’t exist — it’s that they are difficult to find with search. Scratch-B-Gone is the oldest stainless steel scratch repair kit we’re aware of. In fact, we originally used it in 2010. However, it’s gotten hard to find and expensive. But is it worth it? For tougher scratches, it may be necessary to rub them out with an abrasive pad. You’ll need a scouring pad or scrubbing sponge, plus some cooking oil (olive oil works well). There are also kits on the market, such as Rejuvenate Stainless Steel Scratch Eraser Kit and Scratch-B-Gone, which contain all you’ll need to remove deeper scratches. Install the Walter 2-in-1 brush on the drum sander/polisher. Make sure it’s secured well, as movement during brushing can ruin the finish. Avoid putting hot pots and pans in stainless steel sinks. Also, avoid putting items such as paint stripping agents, brush cleaners, metal shavings, and adhesives into your sink.

There are three options for stainless steel scratch repair for your appliance. The first option is using a repair kit and doing it yourself. The second option is doing it yourself with the professional tools. And the third option is to find a professional who will do it for you. If you’re dealing with light scratches, start by preparing the non-abrasive compound. Some come in powder form, which you will then combine with water to form a paste at home. Others scratch removal compounds come as pre-mixed, ready-to-use pastes. You can also use common household products as DIY scratch removers. For instance, you can apply gel-free toothpaste right out of the tube, or create a paste by mixing baking soda with water. So does the ScratchPro kit for Polishing and Repairing Sinks work? Well, with our normal sized scratch it didn’t. But like the Rejuvenate kit, it was able to cover a light scuff in the metal. However, like the Rejuvenate kit, the resultant brush marks look just as bad — if not worse, than the original scuff. Scratch-B-Gone: Review The ScratchPro kit is a bit more beefy and well made than the Rejuvenate Stainless Steel Scratch Eraser Kit, but it’s also more expensive. But does it work any better? ScratchPro kit for Polishing and Repairing Sinks: components However, if you look at the panel in person, you will notice that the brushing doesn’t look perfectly straight. It’s a little wavy, although I would bet that most people wouldn’t notice it. Wet the scratched area with a sponge or cloth saturated with water. Throughout the process, keep the surface wet.
