It starts out seeming like an ordinary student life story at a prestigious school. However, there are hints here and there that something is off. It’s not until the middle of the book that the truth behind what’s going on at the school is revealed. Even so I found myself curious to see what would happen next and how this misfit class would find its way to work together once the reality of the school set in. Later on, the group chat that Kiyotaka was in started discussing the topic of Horikita, with antagonistic feelings towards her being shared among most of its members. Tired of the situation, Kiyotaka ignores his phone and recalls the situation leading up to that point. At night, after being unable to sleep, Kiyotaka heads down to the lobby of the dorms to get something to drink from a vending machine. He notices on the CCTV of the elevator, after he's done, that Horikita is heading down to lobby as well. He hides and tails her out of the building where he finds her meeting with an older student. After listening for a little, the older student turns out to be Manabu Horikita, who is confirmed to be her older brother.However, even though I really liked the premise, the nature of the school actually isn’t revealed right away. The book begins with Ayanokouji meeting Horikita on the first day of school. After that, it accounts his daily life during the first month of school, as he adjusts to the new school and tries to make friends with his classmates since his friendship with Horikita is unsuccessful at first.

When I decided to review Classroom of the Elite, I really wasn’t sure what to expect, especially since I haven’t watched the anime. And in the end, what I got was a brain impulsion. Let me explain. I’m a former teacher and a tutor, so Classroom of the Elite’s themes on education and equality set off a firestorm inside my mind, in both a good and bad way. Kiyotaka goes to a vending machine and noticed the selection option for free water, which causes Yamauchi to remark that the cafeteria had free meal options. Kiyotaka recalls seeing many upperclassmen partaking in the free meals, to which Yamauchi replies that it was probably due to having no money at the end of the month. Once again, Kiyotaka thinks that there is something amiss about the school, but is distracted away from thinking further once again. If you aren’t familiar with the series, Classroom of the Elite takes places at the fictional Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing School, a fancy school run by the Japanese government. On the surface, the school is a paradise, where students can indulge themselves in all kinds of amenities. However, in reality, students are placed into four different classes based on their merit.
