Page 125: Combe is shown laying to the northwest of Staddle on the east side of the Bree-hill, while in fact Combe should lie a little east of Staddle's location.

I think a more appropriate title would be: An Illustrated Guide to the History of Tolkien's Mythology: With an Emphasis on Noteworthy Locations and Events. Packed with full page maps and illustrations of events in the annals of Middle-earth, it is the perfect companion to the bestselling A Dictionary of Tolkien. For those who haven't, there are no major spoilers but it quickly flits from one thing to another due to the vast timespan it covers, so it would probably be easy to get confused.

It is telling that there is very little new material here, all of the illustrations and maps are found elsewhere, making this redundant for people unfortunate enough to own a copy of his Illustrated Encyclopedia. Together with Tolkien: The Illustrated Encyclopedia , these books have been translated into sixteen languages, and have sold in excess of two million copies. The Little Lune river appears on many maps but is never labeled, because its name was first published in The Peoples of Middle-earth [10]. However, the published Silmarillion uses "Dor Daedeloth" (Land of the Shadow of Horror) as the name for the northern lands under the control of Morgoth without distinguishing the regions north and south of the mountains.

Though sometimes the information doesn't quite add up--like who the Ringwraiths are (the Silmarillion says at least three were Numenorean), it's still very helpful. He then lists Ungoliant, Thuringwethil, and Draugluin as Maiar, which is questionable, but arguable. For example, she compares the western Emyn Muil with its two ridges to the Weald with its pair of inward-facing downs (an anticline).
