This was a bit of a wasted opportunity for LEGO and Disney to debut Rey with her yellow lightsaber that featured to heavily in the holiday special, so I fixed it up! Being that this Advent calendar is City-themed, there’s a lot of moving vehicles among the mini-builds, and a few mini structures/buildings. I do like cute little mini-autos, but building a lot of them in a row got to be a bit repetitive. There were also a couple of buildings where I wasn’t sure what they were supposed to be once completed. Because of these inconsistencies, the set earns our 3/5 Star (Good) rating. #75307 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar Despite being a licensed set this does not come with any unique parts that can only be found in this set. It does however come with three unique minifigures that to date can only be found in this set. All of the printed parts in this set are all minifigure parts which is somewhat disappointing as most other advent calendars come with at least one unique or part. LEGO may have opted to save some costs and substitute printed parts with rarer minifigure prints. Conclusion For those of you who haven’t got this version of Rey with her white robes (it’s appeared 2 other times, one in the recent Knights of Ren Transport Ship 75284), this is a great new variant of Rey in her “post-Jedi training outfit”. I just think the Advent Calendar focusing on just one Star Wars show ultimately hamstrung the potential, as it became quite stale after a while, because the sense of excitement and surprise just wasnt there – also because most of the builds were spoiled on the box anyway.

The Porgs have gone through a few minor changes since making their LEGO debut in 2017’s 75200 Ahch-To Island Training set, and now sports a white body. Really surprised to get such a heavy hitter ship on Day 1, but I’m not going to complain. This was quite an extensive build, and the instructions on the window flap might be a little hard to read, especially for younger builders, so here’s a shot of how to build the twin engines, and components. That’s it for Day 12 so far! The Porgs took up quite a bit of screentime in the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, and were prominently displayed on the box, so this wasn’t a massive surprise. Here’s a better look at the Christmas Baby Yoda minifigure, which has a small bit of printing on his body – a red and green scarf, as well as a Christmas jumper. It’s super adorable, and one of the best days yet of what has shaped up to be a very hit and miss Advent Calendar.

This year’s Advent Calendar is a bit of a new experience as I believe it’s solely focused on The Mandalorian TV series which streams on Disney+, a departure from previous years where you had builds and characters from different movies/eras of Star Wars. Only one week left to Christmas, which is crazy when you think about it! To ring in Day 18, we leave the Phantom Menace and get transported into everyone’s favourite Ice planet, Hoth with the return of a Snowspeeder model! The TIE Fighter’s design is hard to improve on at this scale, so there’s nothing really notable about the TIE’s design, and not a lot of innovation can be found here, but Star Wars fans like the comfort of anything from the Original Trilogy, so this inclusion makes sense. Christmas is rapidly approaching, and fans of the franchise both young and old are eagerly awaiting this season's release of LEGO's Star Wars Advent Calendar. Wake up each December morning and open the door to an intergalactic surprise. Each day reveals a festive Star Wars figure or mini-figure, a mini-build vehicle or location. And the calendar itself serves as a cheerful holiday decoration, filling any room with the Christmas spirit and the force. Collect the Entire Set The heavy hitters just keep coming in the 2020 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar. Day 11 gives us one of the most recognizable ships in the galaxy – the Millennium Falcon!

IG-11 was one of the most memorable characters in Season 1 of the Mandalorian, mostly because of his heroics – he originally took on a bounty with Din Djarin (Mando), to capture Baby Yoda, before being destroyed by Mando. Anyway, here’s Day 3 so far of the Star Wars Advent Calendar – it’s never a bad day to open up a Stormtrooper in a window, so this was a pretty good day. While I offer my criticism... I do not want to see this theme canceled from the Advent Calendar range as some have advocated. I think a "Mando" Themed Calendar is a great idea... but where are: Welcome to Day 20 of the Star Wars Advent Calendar, with another major Mandalorian character – fan-favourite Assassin Droid-turned heroic protector of Baby Yoda, IG-11! That’s Day 8 so far! Pleased to finally get another minifigure, but it isn’t a named character, in fact we haven’t got one yet, which I think is pretty neat, as it builds the anticipation for when we actually get a main character.The “playable” elements such as the Balista and E-Web Heavy Repeating Blaster are kind of okay, but they really should’ve come with the Targets, instead of the Targets coming as their own window. All in all, any day where you get an extra Stormtrooper minifigure is a good day. Only TWO more days remain in this year’s Star Wars Advent Calendar! His body was recovered by Kuiil, and restored, with his memory wiped, and re-programmed to protect Grogu (Baby Yoda). He strikes up an uneasy but effective partnership with Mando despite his mistrust of droids – and becomes one of the most endearing characters in Season 1. It’s truly a Christmas miracle – it’s Day 10 and we still haven’t gotten a filler or subpar build! Can the Star Wars Advent Calendar continue its 10-day streak of awesome builds and characters? Luke Skywalker has been a fan-favourite for good reason, and has made plenty of appearances in Advent Calendars, but if you’re new, it’s a great addition to your collection. The print on his torso and legs are really detailed, and it’s hard to think of ways to improve it, apart from a new hairpiece.To give you an idea of the scale, and what these Control Ships were used for, here’s an awesome diagram of the Droid Control Ship. LEGO have set the bar really, really high with the 2020 Star Wars Advent Calendar, and I don’t think you could really fault it – every single day has been a solid build or reference, and I loved getting so many main characters and iconic ships in it. The build uses slopes to create its triangular head, and I do like that they even managed to incorporate the gap in the front. Here’s how it looks from behind. We have a hover crib for Grogu and the ride-on droid transport trailer. A lot of the items allow for interaction and play with minifigures, with some builds belonging to a sub group in the calendar. There’s a lot of opportunity to create your own little stories with the builds. It’s always a good day to get one of the most recognisable Star Wars ships in an Advent Calendar, and while the design might not be everyone’s cup of tea, I like that the designers took the risk to try something new, instead of riff on an established design – plus the bonus advantage of being able to display Slave 1 upright makes this a winner in my books

Fans of the Prequels, we continue feasting well into Day 16 with more Phantom Menace goodness! Day 16 gives us Anakin Skywalker’s Podracer, complete with its yellow and blue livery. Between door-opening ceremonies and playtime adventures, this LEGO® Star Wars™ Advent Calendar makes a colourful, festive display piece in any room. That’s it for Day 4 so far – great to see the Stormtrooper get a weapon, and bonus points that it has some playablity with the Stud Blaster.

Top 4 Mini Builds

As we’ve seen in other newly-introduced Advent Calendar themes, this set includes a great selection of minifigures! The Marvel Advent Calendar sports 7 minifigures and an additional 2 mini builds that could almost be counted as minifigures! The minifigures in this set covered a wide spectrum of genders and races to highlight the diverseness of Super Heroes and how they can be anyone from any walk in live! Thank goodness for finally getting a named character, and I liked that Grogu comes with his own carrier, which you can attach to IG-11 to carry Baby Yoda around. Now, all we need is an AT-AT or AT-ST for the opposing Imperial side and we’ll have our perfect Hoth micro-scene! Here’s hoping we get one tomorrow on Day 21! As the finale for a Mandalorian-themed Advent Calendar, it’s pretty decent – but not super enticing. For starters, they just slapped a scarf on Mando, and that’s it. I think LEGO would’ve made Mando a lot more festive, whether with a more seasonal print. Moff Gideon’s Imperial Light Cruiser – It nails the look of the ship using just 27 pieces. This is achieved using some newer pieces such as the 1×1 Round with Bar and Pin Holder (part 20482) and the 1×1 round w/ open stud (part 85861)to achieve its’ signature look.
