I felt I was a bit too far removed. This is a shame because the author is great at dialogue and interesting metaphors and other turns of phrase. It didn't grab me quite as much as the first book in the series, but I'm not sure if that was because the case itself wasn't as interesting to me or if some of the novelty had rubbed off. I didn't really feel for the victim, so maybe I wasn't as invested in finding her murderer.
