I am sure if this was used more frequently and over a longer duration, like directly before and after using your shoes, the effectiveness of this remedy would improve. That said, this isn’t exactly the hassle-free defuming solution I was looking for. There’s a pretty pungent smell of lavender that comes off these banana shoe deodorizers, but after several days of not having them in, the lavender started to reduce. In honesty, I was half expecting the lavender to just mask the odor rather than eliminate it but this doesn’t seem to be the case. Amazing! For wet winter gear

The cotton fabric used has the porosity to absorb moisture but if your shoes are really sweaty you can shake your bananas to release a fine mist of powder to speed up the drying process. You will be able to tell when your Boot Bananas are ready to be replaced because they slowly turn brown the more they are used, when entirely brown your Boot Bananas are saturated and need to be replaced. We’d just moved into our first flat together and the smell of Phil’s climbing shoes had become a problem he could no longer hide. We tried everything on the market to deodorise them but nothing was up to the challenge. So, putting our best feet forward, we decided to fight the funk ourselves. It’s…a banana!
