This works in a conversation (and the audiobook maybe better suited for this style) but not as well in a memoir. I recommend these two books for everybody who likes inspiring people, cool stories about things that have happened to them (or in this case: what they have done and made happen) and general positive outlook of life. Here Grylls elaborates on episodes of his show we remember watching to tell us the stories that didn’t make it to air. Still, there are days when he tells himself not to screw things up and moments when he lacks confidence and fears the unknown.

It was here that he perfected many of the skills that his fans all over the world enjoy watching him pit against mother-nature. The first part of the book seems to be used to defend himself against the stories of how misleading his early TV shows were. He believes in making a good first impression and showing up early to events, things he learned from his mother and his time in the military. It felt like this was not done to emphasize a point but just how the information came out when chatting with someone.In a way my hope is that maybe Bear gets to read it because what I really want to do is say thank you.

Even when a venture wasn't a success, he appreciated the opportunity and learned from it for the next one. The read is more a collection of stories than a continuous narrative, and I expected more of the latter.From finding confidence to bouncing back from failure, Bear gives children the tools they need to survive and thrive in their own lives.

I really enjoyed listening to all his experiences and I love that he is so humble and honest about his life and his journey. Bear Grylls is the iconic adventurer and survivalist star of Man vs Wild and the more recent Running Wild. The structure works because the book mainly concentrates on three aspects of the author’s life: adventure, business, and personal.
