The provisional figure for reported treasure finds in 2021 is 1,079, similar to the final 2020 figure of 1,071. It is the eighth year in a row when reported treasure finds exceeded 1,000. Roughly a third of the found object cases (35%) and a quarter of the found coin cases (25%) were acquired by or donated to museums, totalling 304 additions to museums. This statistical release presents data on the number of reported treasure finds for 2020 and provisional figures for 2021 within England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Data for 2020 are broken down by county, region, period, distribution and method of discovery. Figures for 2021 are provisional and are provided by county and region only. Updated with notice: Due to the Bank Holiday timings, April’s ‘Forecasts for the UK Economy’ will now be published on Thursday 16 April. This is to allow for a sufficient compilation period.Of these finds, the two largest acquisitions were 19 cases obtained by the British Museum and 15 cases obtained by Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery (combined 12% of object cases acquired).

The survey explores the end-to-end process of issuing a green bond and solicited treasurer's views on integrated sustainability and the potential to enhance growth and scale of the market. Liquidity buffers have been growing in size even before the pandemic. Since 2019, they have grown by 3 percentage points and now represent roughly 20%, on average, of banks’ balance sheets (23% for G-SIBs). Liquidity coverage ratios (LCRs) have also grown, rising from 139% in fiscal year 2017 to 146% in fiscal year 2019, far above the regulatory minimum of 100%. And while large buffer sizes and high LCRs are often correlated, that was not true at several banks in 2020, suggesting some might be overly conservative in their financial resource management. This year marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Treasure Act 1996 - a landmark Act of Parliament which, for the past quarter of a century, has helped to preserve significant finds and ensure that they can be enjoyed and admired by the public.

Respondents considering financing growth via capital markets as ‘Not Important’ mandate increased significantly between 2019 (7%) and 2022 (32%), showing a preference in organization to rely on their bank facilities or to the equity market. In 2020, by region, the largest number of treasure finds in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland was the East of England with 247 cases (23% of total finds).
