The espresso-like coffee made by Prismo makes an excellent starting point for a latte or other milk-based drink. In this context, it’s difficult to tell the difference between a real espresso shot. The robust and full-bodied shots brewed by the Prismo have the bold flavour and mouthfeel needed to hold up to the addition of sweet, creamy dairy. If you have a milk frother at home and don’t want to buy an espresso machine, the Prismo is a perfect low-cost option for cafe-style drinks. It promised to deliver a truly convincing shot of espresso and the ability to brew full immersion coffee with your AeroPress without relying upon the inverted method.Unfortunately, they released the AeroPress Go after the initial Prismo design and, as a result; it isn’t completely compatible. The product team at Fellow is considering adjusting the dimensions of Prismo, as the new AeroPress Go has slightly different dimensions from the previous 7 generations, but we’re not positive if this has happened or not. If you’re an AeroPress enthusiast, you’re almost certainly aware of the inverted method. It was developed because when using the AeroPress, as initially designed by inventor Alan Adler, some water would start leaking through or around the paper filter even before the plunger was pushed ( 4). This led to under-extracted coffee and eliminated the possibility of long steep times. To avoid this effect and achieve a more balanced flavor profile, many baristas started setting up their AeroPress upside down – aka the inverted method. The construction of the Prismo AeroPress adapter is solid, but the flexible metal filter is very thin and over time, may prove to be too delicate. When it comes to pour over drippers, it’s well-known that the different paper filters significantly impact the final flavor of the brew. Optionally, if you prefer a lighter and brighter coffee, you can filter out all the fines from your coffee grounds and a lot of the oils by using a paper filter with the metal filter. I’ve done this with great success (and the cap actually screws on easier too).

Cleaning: Although the manufacturer’s guide claims that the Prismo is easy to clean, our experience with the attachment suggests otherwise. Any AeroPress accessory that takes away the joy of how easy it is to tidy up afterward is a real downer.
